This girl, who calls herself "Maggie McMuffin" (apparently a burlesque stage name) wasn't allowed to board a JetBlue flight for showing up like this:

She made some obnoxious statement to the press about "slut shaming", "body shaming', and "misogyny" which made me instantly want to take the airline's side.

She told KOMO news that the incident is indicative of unfair treatment of women in a patriarchal society.

"I'd say body shaming and slut shaming more than outright sexism, but it is really hard to remove those two things from misogyny."

She also claimed that she had just finished performances in that outfit before boarding, but I don't understand why she couldn't take a few minutes to change.

There was some ridiculous incident on Southwest a few years ago where a girl wearing a short but mostly normal-looking skirt was denied boarding.

I was totally on her side on that one.

With this... I see JetBlue's point. They should have a right to ask passengers to not look like they're boarding the plane in their underwear.

It's not "slut shaming" or anything against women, because I'm pretty sure they would also deny me boarding if I were to show up wearing "pants" that look like underwear.

My problem is that they look really thin, like underwear. Maybe it's just the picture, but I think that's what was bothering the JetBlue people.

The length of them isn't the problem.

But I think "shorts" with the consistency/look of underwear aren't really appropriate for an airplane.

They ought to be tougher on smells rather than outfits. People with heavy BO or those that bathe in cologne should be forced to shower before boarding.

Semi-related question --- do any of you dress differently when you fly first class?

I'll admit that most of the time I used to dress up a bit. But one day I said fuck it and wore a velour tracksuit. Flight attendants treated me like god that flight.

Ever since then I've dressed super casual (eg, shorts and t-shirts or more tracksuits) and each time I've received better service than when I was wearing a suit and tie.

Any of yall ever noticed if the first class flight attendants treat you differently depending upon how you're dressed? If so, have they treated you better the nicer you're dressed or has the reverse been true for you like it has been for me? Druff, as a casually dressing rich guy, I'm sure you've got some experience with this.
