All Trump needed was enough votes from the GOP. His own party could have passed this bill with 0 votes from the Democrats.

He couldn't get enough votes from his own party even after basically threatening the shit out of them... So what does he do... The obvious... he blames the Democrats. So incredibly cowardly and pathetic.

The real news here is how little the bill meant to him, and how little he pursued it.

The only skin he had in this game was concerns about his re-election, and he said as much to the Freedom Caucus at their round table.

He never read it. He had no idea what was in it. And when Freedom Caucus tried to tell him there were elements of it that were going to be absolutely ruinous for some of their constituents, Trump told them he was concerned with 'big picture' politics and they needed to worry about 2020, not the nuances of the bill.

Which is literally the opposite of politics.

Now... take that gem and consider this; the Koch brothers amongst others are devoutly opposed to his tax agenda for shockingly similar reasons.

There is a very, very real chance that the same dynamics that blew the wings off Trumpcare while it was on the runway could have the exact same effect on his tax bill.

And honestly I just assumed that the tax bill would get ushered in without a whimper because lol rich white people but what I've learned in the last 24 hours makes me really question that assumption.

So basically all thats left is the "wall", which.. even if it somehow gets built.. is going to result in nothing but endless news cycles of viral footage of people blasting holes in it with diesel and fertilizer, along with gratuitous infrared drone videos of absolute convoys of illegals parading through the consistently unfixed gaps.

If someone has looked in their crystal ball and discovered a scenario where the GOP survives Trump, they have kept it a secret.
