Read something about Mitrione/Fedor last night.
Shizzmoney: either that, or he owes someone money
Do you know something I dont? Pettis has always been one of the more stable, down to earth fighters. Its hard to imagine him in debt to anyone, least of all considering his income.
I know he owns a restaurant in the Milwaukee area, so there could be some bunk finances because of that. But it could be just due to his father and Milwaukee fail, a city which deals with high crime due to segregation and economic inequality. Maybe his dad owed people money?
On November 12, 2003, Pettis' father was stabbed to death by a "robber" at a friend's house. I don't know if there was any residuals from that, as his dad was known to hang with shady characters:
http://mmajunkie.com/2009/05/fight-p...-tragic-death/Quote:
Anthony Pettis and his older brother answered the knocks at their family’s front door late on Nov. 12, 2003.
“We thought it might be dad,” Pettis told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “He would come and go at weird hours.”
Instead, there stood two Milwaukee Police Department detectives. Not knowing if their father was in trouble — his past in and out of drug use had gained him a sometimes-difficult group of friends — the 15-year-old Pettis and his brother were vague with answers, especially when the detectives said they were investigating a homicide.
Who was he hanging out with? They said they didn’t know.
Where had he been? They said they didn’t know.
“We didn’t want to give them any information,” Pettis said. “We didn’t know if his friends had done something. So they pull out this picture of him in the back of an ambulance with his eyes wide open. I’ll never forget that image.”
The Ultimate Fighter will be ending production soon.
Hard to blame them.
LOL Charles Oliveira. How does someone at 145 miss the weight by 9 pounds?
Hall v Gegard, +400. I dont think he wins this time but they found a number I like, so Ill roll the dice a little for the usual reasons. One thing Ive seen in this sport, the people who stick around are the ones who can 'show up' and put in 100% every minute of every round. Win or lose, they tend to do well career wise. Getting KO'd by Brunson isnt anything to be ashamed of but the Whittaker loss was really eye opening. If Mousasi handles him tonight, he will have dropped 4 of his last 6 fights (and 3 in a row), and 4 of his last 5 gigs will be on free events so its not like they have anyplace to demote him to. He can almost certainly hang for a couple of years in Bellator but something about his career is still bittersweet to me.
"1.2. The Applicant contends that he took a product, which he believed to be a pill of "Cialis"; amedicine whose absence from the WADA prohibited list he had previously checked with hisagent, but which unbeknown, indeed unknowable, by him, was contaminated. Therefore he bore,he asserts, at most a light degree of fault in taking it. USADA ("the Respondent") does not acceptthat explanation and in any event asserts that the Applicant's fault was significant.1.3. Cialis is itself not a prohibited substance but a legitimate erectile dysfunction medication; itspurpose is to enhance sexual not sporting performance. It is manufactured by the well-known2pharmacist Eli Lilly and is the brand name of its active agent Tadalafil.1.4. The product that the Applicant claims to have taken was also called Tadalafil and purportedto have the same properties. It was, however, manufactured by the company selling under thename "AllAmericanPeptide.com" ("All American Peptide") to standards far less rigorous thanthose required by the US Food and Drugs Administration ("the FDA")."
---------------------
"On the evidence before the Panel, the Applicant is not a drug cheat. He did not know that the tablet he took contained prohibited substances or that those substances had the capacity to enhance sporting performance. However by his imprudent use of what he pungently referred to as a "dick pill" he has not only lost a year of his career but an estimated nine million dollars. This outcome which he admits to be a wake-up call for him should serve as a warning to all others who participate in the same sport."

tl;dr:
his lawyers found a legal product that would generate the same test failure profile as the PEDs he was abusing so he rolled with it.

Appears Rashad didn't get cleared due to some sort of medical condition. Fucking shame because I was really looking forward to seeing Kennedy against top tier competition.
UFC coming back to Halifax in FEb. Sweet.
Rashad going for the black Sage look haha
So I was leaving work today and I am pretty sure I seen Gastelum walking in the direction of the hotel that all the UFC are staying in. Its 3 blocks away.
Tickets are still 4 figures. Sucks. What are the chances I can get Diaz to donate 2 tickets?
conor is literally morphing physically into nate
Please let Woodley fight Conor #freemoney
Gastulum coudlnt make weight again so we dont get Cowboy calling out Conor and honestly first Trump and now this wow
Yeah, I was just looking at the results & I was like, WTF, Miller missed weight too before realizing he did it on purpose so his fight with Alves wouldn't be scrapped like this fight was. I'm pretty sure Cowboy would have done the same if he knew Gastelum's weight wasn't on point.
why is so much money going on eddie, eddie sucks.
the only reason hes here is because he smothered pettis and gilbert to split decisions and because he trashed a freshly unroided RDA.
i think his chances are well beyond decent. i dont understand why he isnt in the -360 range.
as deeply as i loathe conor, he has proven to be exceedingly bankable. i think he catches eddie in the body and finishes the job in the first in like 2 out of 3 fights, conservatively.
but every time i say that in response to a line i dont understand, the guy im jocking shows up with one leg or some sort of adult onset palsy and i go broke.
i made some lolparlays with eddie winning just to be safe. im officially spooked.
All I'm reading is $$ in on McGreggor and the lines going the other way.
if Conor falls to -125 I have to bet him #meh
Also taking Woodley not b/c I think he can win, but because of the price. I have paid rent on backing the truck up on Wonderboy for all seven fights on his run, but him at -200 is just crazy vs a top of the line wrestler like Woodley. Also like that fight to go to decision.
a) the late "bet against Conor" push which has happened since he's become public. The Aldo late push at 194 was insane; I've never seen that in combat sports betting before and only a few times in football/baseball like when an important player was expected to play and suddenly he can't 30 min before gametime or something. It's why 1/3rds of the people I talk to about that fight thinks Aldo took a dive lol
b) People figure: "What beats Conor? Wrestling and BJJ! Nate choked him out!". But the issue is, and Chael Sonnen has said this: Eddie's actually never really used his wrestling in his fights as a primary weapon. He's never done in his MMA career what Chael did for 5* rounds vs Anderson Silva: take the striker down and punch his face all night (*well for 4.5 rounds until Chael tapped, but you know what I mean).
Eddie in his career always got back to why he's the "Underground King": brawling and Thai clinch. It's the Philly in him; he can't help himself. And that plays into Conor's hands as he's the taller fighter with longer reach and can pick his shots against an aggressively striking Eddie. UNLESS Eddie decides to "Jon Fitch" the fight. And I don't think he will do that, and it probably costs him because as big of an edge Conor has on Eddie's striking, it's way more when it comes to Eddie's wrestling, IMO.
I never watched a weigh-in before and got as excited as I did today even tho nothing really crazy happens. The 200 card was decent on paper but a let down when it happened so lets hope this one delivers.

It was a good play by Rousey who is there at the end to walk off before they ask to speak to her.
Eddie's Pettis fight gameplan was entirely based on his wrestling advantage, no? That's why everyone got pissed, because all he was doing was taking him down or grinding him into the fence. There's no reason NOT to think he won't try to Jon Fitch this, because he's already shown us he'll try to do it against a very dangerous striker if he thinks he has the clear advantage.
