This is a fantastic idea. It was also a fantastic idea when Obama proposed it, but the Republicans said no fucking way and howled about the deficit. Now they've passed a ludicrous tax cut for the rich that will add $1.5T in addition to the deficit that was already projected, and want to add $1.5T in new spending on top of that, all financed by debt. Hypocrites.
A party of hypocrites
are you gonna be okay babe
I watched on fast forward just to see if Barrrrrrron is 6'5" yet and he wasn't even fucking there I don't think. I guess they still have him on time out for clumsily falling into that big missle alert button when he was snooping around the parts of the white house he's not supposed to be in. It's not his damn fault his center of gravity is in his neck you trash parents.
The ACLU is mad because Trump said 'America' too many times during the SOTU.
Tonight, President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. Yet, after a divisive first year, we hear and feel how exclusionary that ‘America’ is, with policies that have harmed so many vulnerable American communities. The ACLU stands ready to protect these communities, both in the courts and at the polls.
(just in case you were wondering if Trump is going to be elected to a 2nd term)
Didn't watch a single second of the State of the Union address. I just don't get the fascination with these kind of spectacles. Lets be honest here. Trump didn't write that speech and most of the people listening don't care what the speech said anyways.
Before the speech started everyone had already made up their mind what they thought about it, mainly based on political orientation. The speech itself and all the reactions to it (good and bad) were nothing but an empty spectacle. If that is your thing, than that is fine. But I just don't see the appeal. I watched the end of the Rockets game and then most of the Clippers game instead.
I really enjoyed how the Democrat response was given by a white guy from one of the most privileged families in the nation's history.
I watch some of his response and had to turn it off simply for the deliberately slow way he was speaking. It was painful to watch and listen to, as he kept emphasizing by a slow cadence almost every other word. Too flipping distracting to even consider *what* he says.
Bizarrely to me, or simply because they are party faithful trying to drum up enthusiasm for the latest iteration of a Joe Kennedy-descendant political figure, I saw a number of glowing reviews of his response. Good fucking luck, Dems, if he doesn't learn to speak more naturally/faster in these settings, else, he'd look like carefully rehearsed but-slowed-down-for-the-least-ablist-among-us Demobot to the average TV-watching voter.
It's proof that White guys from privileged families can care about others. Find someone in the GOP who can say it w/out lying?
BF are going to crush the GOP in 2018.
and nice plagiarism
Wait.
You actually believe the Ginger cares about blacks?
If he didn't say those things, would you have changed your opinion on him? I mean, we already have a pretty good idea of what kind of guy Trump is and what his agenda is. So either he tells the truth and we are critical of him for that, or he doesn't and we are critical of him for lying. So if we know ahead of time we are going to be critical of him no matter what, then what was actually accomplished?
Like I said, if watching 3 hours of that kind of spectacle is entertaining to you, then go ahead. I just find the whole experience to be empty and meaningless.
No more Trey Gowdy.
He could have had a future beyond Congress.
Surprising that he's leaving.
Sad!

Remember that time Trump called immigrant teenagers Super-predators?
LULZ
JK
That was Hillary.
Can we talk about how much fucking either petroleum jelly / chapstick Kennedy had on his mouth during the response? That shit was so shiny I had to stop watching because it was so distracting, and the fact that I don't give a shit what he says.
Fair enough. For good or bad (most people would argue bad), unlike most politicians Trump actually seems to follow through with his outlandish stated policy objectives. So I guess it is worth noting what he actually says he wants to do, because no matter how incredulous it sounds, he is probably being sincere.
I think at some point many of the Republicans realized the inevitable backlash from a Trump presidency under their banner, so they decided to drop all pretense and just do a straight money grab for the next 4 years and then get out with their money. I am sure his personal wealth will grow astronomically before he leaves office.
Does he tho?
This is the guy whose encore to the Benghazi investigation was spinning a joke text between FBI agents into a deep state / secret society conspiracy theory.
For someone like him to fold and gather up his chips while dominating the table is just spooky.
On a similar note, on a recent pod Carola interviewed Sheryl Atkinson where she talked about how the media is pretty much bought and paid for by corporate lobbyists and they have unprecedented influence and power with the media right now to shape news and bury any story they view unfavorably, and this is true for the MSM and left and right wing leaning news outlets.
Lol at Trey Gowdy being the final nail in Hilarys coffin, would be hilarious if he prosecuted her, gonna see where he lands exactly, this is getting interesting...
for a while i thought the GOP would get hammered in 2018, but i'm slowly beginning to have doubts about that.
just listening to the democrat leadership and watching the democrat rebuttal of the SOTU tells me they haven't learned much. they still seem way too focused on race. they need a much better economic message. they're already going to get 100% minority vote and turnout will be overwhelming. talk of DACA, immigration, etc. are losing issues to run on with white people.
nate silver tweeted out that the democrat advantage on the generic congressional ballot is the lowest it's been in a while though still 6 points
