Also how isn't it an automatic for the visitors to walk the first batter if they didn't score in the top of the inning?
Isn't it sad that they are even playing?
During world wars shit came to a halt. Everyone was pulling on the same rope
Not now. Corporations need their income regardless. They don't care about the player per se. They care about the bottom line
That is not in line with the collective effort needed to win a battle
Here's a good summary of the Joe Kelly thing:
https://www.truebluela.com/platform/...a-alex-bregman
Interestingly, Kelly wasn't even part of he 2017 Dodgers that got cheated, and in fact was an important piece on the 2018 Red Sox who also cheated the Dodgers, but somehow they've mostly avoided everyone's wrath.
Still, at least I enjoyed him being a one-man wrecking crew against the worst Astros cheaters, especially that arrogant fucker Correa.
I agree with you about the rule. What I found from a betting standpoint is that when the top of the 10th starts the visiting team has increased win equity as opposed to a traditional extra inning game. The fact they have such a better probability of scoring and can do so by manufacturing the run really flips the script. I have been taking the away team when the game seems to be going to extras in the live betting. Of course, the books have shifted the live odds accordingly as well. You can still get decent odds by betting the away team in a tie game during the bottom of the ninth and take your chances it will go to extras.
If they fail to score then it is another huge pendulum swing of win equity to the home team. Basically have to pray to somehow get another shot in the 11th at that point. It reminds me somewhat of when hockey put the shootout in place. The home teams quickly realized that it was better to go first and hopefully score to put the pressure on. I don’t know if home teams would decide to do that with this rule in baseball, but it is for sure a closer call than most would have expected.
If you hate the extra inning rules you are prolly not gonna love the 7 inning double headers
It’s 2020, enjoy the little you have
This guys lip reading makes the video

Small sample but..
Christian Yelich is 1-for-27 with 12 K and just 1 BB. His one hit is a HR, meaning he hasn't had a single base hit yet within the ballpark.
Cody Bellinger is now 5-for-31 with 0 HR and just one extra base hit. On the bright side, he's only whiffed 4 times, so some of this is probably bad luck.
Still, collectively they're hitting slightly over .100 with 1 HR and 1 double between them. Wow.
A pitcher could throw during the lockdown ... Scherzer is the most famous example this summer. Where was a hitter like Bellinger going to see a live pitcher at max effort?
So many of the monsters are underperforming.
The balls used in the cages are quarantined for 5 days and all that too. Even hitting the cage during a game is near impossible.
It certainly does get your attention but it’s just another example of COVID weirdness.
for the 1st time in my life i rooted for the dodgers
2020 is a strange year indeed
brewers-cards postponted...
enjoy this while it lasts boys...looking more and more like it aint gonna last for much longer...
NFL needs to reevaluate their decision to not "bubble" ASAP...
You know a place with 32 practice fields?
Your point is correct though. Zero shot
I’m just regarding this MLB season as an exhibition. You know I am not adverse to betting exhibition or preseason.
7 inning double-headers will be fun to handicap. Nobody has an edge. Just opinion.
i aint saying it's gonna be an easy solution san...but there are BILLLLLLLLLLIONS on the line...bout time goddell starts to earn his $40M...
*can they do an NBA style one in orlando? that wide world of sports complex is massive...dont know if they have enough football specific space for games/practices/etc...
*maybe a bubble by geography? all north, all south, all east, all west teams together regardless of conference...
*do it in texas...i mean fuck a decent chunk of those high school stadiums are just as nice as a lot of big time college stadiums...
issue is that MLB/NFL arent the NBA...a TON more moving parts, even in a bubble...i mean look at the NBA...have already had lou williams go to a strippy for their wings and test positive and that's when people are on lockdown...now add in 4-5x more people for an NFL operation compared to NBA...i mean even if they have their ducks in a row, it's gonna be fucking hard as hell to pull it off...all you need is a couple of knuckleheads looking for some strange and it can blow the whole thing...
yup...MLB floated that idea and the players were like 'fuck no'...wonder if it would have worked...maybe better than this, but id be willing to bet they'd have still had people get this shit...enough to potentially shutdown the season? probably not...but think the players were looking to fight with the owners and the owners were looking to fight with the players so even attempting the bubble was gonna be DOA...
North, south, east, west is a good idea. Any travel eliminated is a plus.
It’s the league of denial though. I don’t see it.
I have not committed any emotional energy to following NFL news. We have Cam Newton and Belichick and normally that’s a lot to unpack but I just don’t think it’s gonna happen. Not for very long.
A very small part of me wonders if Belichick is tanking. Or has a couple of small vials all prepared .....
You know who is doing well? Giancarlo Stanton. This ties in with the Eric Cressey Fight Club baseball story in Palm Beach. Stanton’s body was reinvented.
The Yankees these past 2 or 3 years have had spectacular numbers of injuries. Literally the entire starting roster on opening day would be on IR. The positive news was they were so god damned deep with talent it almost didn’t matter.
The Yankees just hired Eric Cressey to redo their training program. Stanton is the earliest tangible result.
Interesting.
the NFL is FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED if they don't quickly figure something out...business as usual ain't happenin...

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred told MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark on Friday that if the sport doesn't do a better job of managing the coronavirus, it could shut down for the season, sources familiar with the conversation told ESPN.
The league and players recognize the coming days are a critical juncture following an outbreak among the Miami Marlins in which 21 members of the organization have tested positive for COVID-19. Two positive tests by St. Louis Cardinals players on Friday exacerbated concerns inside the sport about the presence of the coronavirus and whether the jointly agreed-upon protocols are being followed properly to prevent outbreaks similar to Miami's.
Should another outbreak materialize, Manfred, who has the power to shut down the season, could move in that direction. Multiple players briefed on the call fear the season could be shut down as soon as Monday if positive tests jump or if players continue not to strictly abide by the league's protocols.
State and local governments have pressured baseball about players skirting the mandates outlined in the league's 113-page operations manual, sources told ESPN. Broadcasts that have shown players high-fiving, spitting and not wearing masks have left government officials wondering how seriously players are taking the protocols, sources said.
Further, there is concern about off-the-field choices, with one high-ranking official saying: "There are some bad decisions being made."
The Cardinals' game against the Milwaukee Brewers was postponed Friday and rescheduled to a doubleheader Sunday. Already, the Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies, who last played Miami on Sunday, were missing scheduled games, leaving 20% of the league's Friday slate empty.
Major League Baseball and the MLBPA on Friday jointly announced the results of COVID-19 testing through Thursday. Of the 11,895 samples taken over the past week, there were 29 positive tests -- 20 by players and nine by staff members.
you let the NFL guys "loose" there is 0.0% chance that there aren't multiple guys who aren't gonna try to get some pussy...can't blame 'em, i'd be doing the same thing if i were in my 20s, but that shit ain't gonna fly in this situation..
Damn, I've been into baseball this year for the first time since 2016 Cubs.
Oh well.
true, true...but outside of florida there ain't anywhere else you're gonna get that concentration of baseball fields...although if you really wanted to get around it you probably only need 8 fields playing 2 games a day...might be able to go elsewhere, but the fields would definitely not be major league quality...
Yeah.... that would be your take on the whole Astros episode.
Trevor Bauer pitching today. Love that fucking kid. Remember him throwing the ball over the outfield fence before Tito Franconia pulled him out of a game... then traded him?
Getting back to Bauer. Remember Bauer tweeting about the Astros before the cheating scandal became public? I mean public like you and me. EVERYONE else knew. Remember the stories of Andrew Friedman being told that the Astros were cheating and he took no action.. Yeah, we call that selective forgetting.
Ironically, I recall one of Bauer’s tweets involved him going out to play poker that night. He made some kinda joke that he had a device under his shirt. He made a video of him pulling down his shirt. It was an inside joke aimed at those that knew, including Andrew “the dope” Friedman.
Being willfully stupid is the worse crime here.
Joe Kelly is an awful baseball player and his anger at the world is just acting out. 8 games would be a Dodgers blessing
Joey Votto has COVID, though not confirmed yet.
Uh oh.
Bauer reminds me of the preacher who hates gays, then is actually gay. Did you see this San?
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/trevor-b...n%202500%20rpm.
I mean, it is baseball. Whoever cheats best.....
Bellinger hitting again. Yelich, not so much.
Did you see Tattis screwing with Seager (baserunner) on second base? Last night
Seager was stealing signs and Tattis ran in front of him and stared at him. Tattis started circling Seager. It was funny.
I’m sure there is some video out there
Seager was doing nothing wrong, it’s important to say.
Tattis and Machado have edge and the rivalry someday will be good.
Phillies have to play 57 games in 54 days.
Anyone know where I can find the best line that this season gets cancelled?
I'm having a difficult time taking it seriously right now with several teams having players getting covid cancelling games everywhere.
When can they find time to make up an entire series of games and how deep will a team be in backlog with games needed to play, or how many more mass infections before they finally call it?
Mulva, I know you have always keyed on the Cleveland pitching development machine. Kluber was when & where you became a baseball god with me.
James Karinchak son.
I know a couple kids who played with him at RI college. Kid is a an ADD spectacle. They predicted the pros are gonna hate him cause he’s a pure ‘tard.
They were wrong. The Indians pitching staff love him. So far. The great kids are usually cool and laconic. You can’t get too high or too low or you will burn out. Karinchak is a spazz. Annoyed the others in college. Watch him flipping the ball around from hand to hand. He’s always done that. Screaming at himself even when he does great.
He’s got that pure crackhead energy that I find so very appealing
Help yourself to some Tattis as the Padres play Dodgers.
He’s another one I can’t get enough of. Manny Machado gives up shortstop cause he knows. Machado is a cocky fuck but he’s not stupid.
Tattis really has no peer as an athlete except maybe Trout and Ohtani. The unique difference is he has attitude.
Kid is so big but is head and shoulders above guys like Xander and Seager.
I predict again, the Dodgers might actually have a problem in San Diego in terms of a sorta East Coast hate kinda rivalry. Most of the Dodgers except for Kelly and Buehler are fags but I still harbor hope for fireworks.
I like the goofy May kid. Gingergaard. I’d be less than honest if I didn’t come clean there.
Gonna put this out there in my attempt to educate yung Druff. Mookie Betts is THE BEST SIGNING THE DODGERS EVERY MADE. mic drop.
Charlie Blackmon is hitting .472 through 18 games. He was hitting .500 until today when he went 0-4.
If he hits .400, will this be respected as an actual .400 season? I wouldn't respect it. It's MUCH harder to hit .400 through 162 games than 60.
Tony Gwynn, who might have done it in 1994 had there not been a strike (he hit .394), said he didn't think he would have made it. "It's just too damn hard," he said.
Imo no1 will ever hit 400 again over a 162 game season
the hitting streak recor will be broken before someone hits 400 again
Gotta love Lester
huge heart
Dodgers’ reliever Graterol is filthy good.
Perspective:
He’s not Karinchak but he has a live arm.
