Tuna Lund taught Savalas how to play no limit tournament poker.

Interesting thing about the dead is that people are so unwilling to be anything but positive. Over the years I heard murmurs of things that were not positive. Nothing specific I'd share. He came up in a different time. He ran with Amarillo Slim at one point but he was always ready to advertise being a Christian. Yet his "running mate" was charged with molesting his grand-daughter. Sleazy AF.
A lot of rose-tinted glasses looking back.
I am not beginning to suggest Doyle did things that Slim did but I am suggesting he was probably not near the classy guy he portrayed. And regardless he will always be one of the top legends in poker.
thanks for clearing that up hoser.
Brunson says use ESP in “Super System”, so I called him out for suggesting this losing strategy https://youtu.be/bjnSDvKLdp4
Not related to anyone here, but here’s proof of ESP from Texas Dolly in “Super System”
For the record I like Doyle.
Yes I remember cringing when I read this. Additionally he made some other comment about never seeing statisticians as top poker players (essentially claiming math was overrated). All this being said just about every genius can be caught saying somethign absolutely stupid or having beliefs that align with stupidity in one area.
I imagine it's a combination of tons of DMs/texts/emails which are annoying him, basically asking the same question, and other people bothering his sister Pam, who had her time associating with the poker community in the 2000s.
I'm guessing that these aren't longtime family friends or close associates of Doyle, but rather just poker people who want to make themselves feel good, and he knows it. So he's getting pissed off that there's a big swell of people who want to be "part of" any kind of memorial efforts for his dad. It's the same reason they will have closed or undisclosed funerals for celebrities.
The guy's dad just died, and it probably wasn't expected, so I understand why he's in a foul mood in general.
It's not as outrageous as it can seem on the surface.
When I won my bracelet, I knew I was going to win on the Td7d hand as soon as it was dealt to me (even though my opponent had enough chips to where it wouldn't have happened unless he hit a decent piece of the board). I had this feeling before anything was put on the flop, and before any betting pre. Then I flopped the 7, but there was a king, and I figured he probably had it when he played back at me. I then closed my eyes and envisioned a ten hitting the turn (note not a 7, which would have been better for me), and when I heard the turn being put down, I opened them to see the ten right there.
I can't explain it, but it was like I knew it was going to happen this way, and it would be over after that hand.
Yeah, I guess. Everyone reacts different. I guess my point is if you don't want attention you don't go in front of 20,000 people in a hockey arena, in which 19,985 you don't know and blow a horn about your Dad next to a DJ. You are always going to get attention that way, even if you don't want the attention you created it.
LOL! I didn't start this thread idiot. If you want to find the people that Todd is pissed about look to Two plus Two and Twitter, dumbfuck.
I don't really get what Todd is mad about though. People always express their condolences at someone's death. Doyle was a public figure so you can expect that some people grieve over his death. Think Princess Diana. Did you see all them millions of sad fucks?
I think Todd's reaction may have been a little over the top.
Dolly once said Todd and Sonatine were the only ones here who would've been able to survive/thrive as Texas road gamblers.
I has that same feeling with my 8-6 when I finished second in 2011. I knew I was going to catch Wilder on the turn, and I did. Unfortunately, he hit an ace on the river and crippled me:
Harrison Wilder took commend in heads-up play against Thomas Jamieson. Wilder raised from the button and Jamieson called. The flop came out {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Jamieson checked, Wilder bet, Jamieson raised, and Wilder called. The turn ran out the {8-Hearts}. Jamieson checked again, Wilder bet, Jamieson raised, and Wilder called.
The river came the {a-Spades} and this time Jamieson led out and Wilder called.
Jamieson flipped up {6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Wilder showed the winner, {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.
We have quite the PFA send off planned for Negreanu too. I’d continue eating those vegetables pal.
Slim was a sleazy dude. He was one of those slyly proud of hustling sorta guys. He did little to hide it. He might have been ok but the chances of him being a super sleazebag underneath it all are definitely far higher than the average Joe. I don't think little girls go around falsely accusing people very often unless there is an adult trying to set someone up. (or some weird leading questioning going on)
Brunson saying he didn't believe was his only play. He can't say "Oh I knew it" or "Oh I am not surprised" or "you know I always suspected something".
The grand daughter was 12 years old at the time but she later said that all the allegations were categorically false, that it was the adults that went beserk on Slim.
All it takes is the allegation to ruin someone's reputation. Ask Bret Kavanaugh. It happened to Slim who, because of his reputation as a hustler, really didn't have the wherewithal to fight back.
Slim's longsuit was hustling hustlers. All good cons are based on greed. Slim knew how to fleece greedy hustlers.
I met Sen. John Ensign on a flight from Las Vegas to Reno. We had a long and very cordial conversation all the way to Reno and shook hands when we went different ways. He was very friendly.
But he was a scumbag piece of shit. That's how impressed I am with celebrities.
It's time for you to put up your evidence, soyboy. And don't tell me you heard it on the MSM "so it must be true."
There were not plural charges. Sexual assault is a felony, soyboy. Slim pled no contest to a misdemeanor. He was offered a single misdemeanor so prosecutors could save face. Slim fell on the sword to not put his family thru a trial. Could you imagine the headlines every day in the news?
If Slim were a pedo he would have exposed himself long before he reached his 70's. He got a bad rap. Get a clue.
Doxxing the location of Doyle's burial? You stupid fuck. The Texas obituaries will all tell where he is to be buried. Damn, you're dumb, soyboy. Doyle publicly told where he will be buried years ago and said he already had a tombstone in place.
Anyone will be able to find Doyle's grave on this site right here:
https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/...lava-cemetery?
It's all public information dumb fuck.
Druff can officially unleash desertrunner now that another geriatric weirdo has emerged as even more cringeworthy as a pedo apologist.
Running defense for a child molester due to living vicariously as a road gambler?
Too bad the only hustling for our dear Mick involves pocketing danishes at the breakfast buffet and grabbing a quick charge at the public library.
In the words of Druff's friend, 'real pedophile behavior here'.
How about defending a president that showered with his daughter. Team pedo.
A girl I knew in poker who was around my age told me that she thought I looked like Harrison Wilder. I hadn't seen him before, and had only heard his name in that he had won a bracelet. I googled him, and told her that I didn't agree.

Also keep in mind that this was over 10 years ago, when I looked somewhat different than today.
The girl then said, "Oh, I didn't mean it as an insult at all. I actually think he's fairly good looking."
Didn't realize until now that he was the one who beat you heads up. I knew you finished 2nd in a limit event, but never looked up who the winner was.
