If someone asked me, "What are the chances you would end up seeing Ichiro's final at-bat?"
My answer would have been, "Wait... would this be announced in advance?"
The person would reply, "No."
I'd then have asked, "Would Seattle have been playing the Dodgers?"
Again, no.
I'd then have asked, "Would he have been traded to some other team where he was playing the Dodgers?"
Again, no.
So I'd put the chances as pretty damn low.
Well, guess what?
I saw Ichiro's final at-bat. In fact, even BENJAMIN saw his final at-bat, and I explained to Ben who Ichiro was, and the fact that Ichiro is older than his mom,.
I was sweating the Sea/Oak game in the 9th, and Ichiro was up in a critical spot. I told Ben that Ichiro "is very good at not striking out" -- and then he struck out.
Now Ichiro has been released and transferred to an assistant-to-front-office type role:

So not only did I see Ichiro's final at-bat of his career, but of all things, it was a strikeout in a spot where he absolutely did not want to strike out.
