Hesitant to post this because I don't know shit about basketball and runs like this don't last forever. That all being said this guy is on C$ like tear so I'm going to share and see where this goes.
Belmont 1h -6.5
Belmont -11
Cavs -2.5
Cavs/Raps under 221.5
I've been doing pretty badly in head-to-head bets with PFA members lately, though we could both get fucked here if it lands on 222.
Hate to tell you, but the sharps loved Toronto here, and indeed they're up by 11. I was going to go with it, too, but I didn't like the absences on the Raptors side.
In general you're probably better off not directly opposing the sharps. I'm not saying to parrot their picks (there's many times I don't bet what they bet), but I rarely go directly against them.
One thing which gives me confidence about my process is that my own picks rarely go directly against what the sharps are backing, and I always look at the sharps' choices AFTER I've made my potential choices, so as to not create a bias. So naturally I hardly ever pick against what they do anyway, even not knowing what they pick.
Probably nothing, but Chris Paul went for a garbage-time layup with 12 seconds in the Houston/Portland game, instead of holding the ball. Paul's basket allowed the Rockets to win by 9 instead of 7.
The closing line was Houston -7.
Damian Lillard gave Paul a hard time about it: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2...-garbage-layup
Chris Paul has been around for a long time. Why would he do this? That's a big violation of etiquette when there's less than 24 seconds left and your team has an insurmountable lead.
Could it be possible that Paul knew someone with a bet on his team?
It's more likely that Paul wanted to pad his stats, and felt like 7 points was just a short enough lead to where this was still okay.
Still... weird.

Interesting how the ESPN article did NOT mention the betting line, which I think is very relevant here.
They probably didn't want to piss off Paul and lose future interviews with him (or perhaps even some other kind of relationship in the future).
In this story, they just let Lillard do all the talking.
Cavs being a million points behind is probably going to fuck my over here.
I need 118 in 2H. Not impossible, but in a game separated by 25 points, that's not likely.
So looks like I might lose yet another head-to-head with a PFAer.
Only one I won recently was that Chicago/NY bet where Chaps took NY, but that's probably because I absolutely never lose if the game involves the Knicks, just like I never seem to win if it involves Cleveland.
I rem a game back in the late 90s where a Dallas Maverick I think slammed home a dunk to cover when everyone was shaking hands they were playing Portland i believe game was on TNT or TBS. What was that fckers name? It was Dallas or Minny I cant rem he was a s8 fck up but a good player.
I no who it is now JR Rider.
Cant rem who he played for but it was a big deal back then.
My Cavs over was actually on a decent pace until the final 7 minutes of 2H, where they scored just 22 points. That's 10.5 points fewer than they need to score in 7 minutes if you're going to cover over 223.
Holy fuck was I wrong on Cleveland.
They got blown out on Monday and again today. WTF is wrong?
Very strange indeed. I think you were right that he felt 7 points was just short enough. Would be interesting to see it be like a 13 point spread and up 11 to see if it still happened.
You see guys guys shoot when they can hold the ball til the buzzer every once in a while but I can't think of a time before where a star player was the one to make the bucket.
I think bad blood can be ruled out because if that happened Paul would have been cussing him back when Lillard came up to him instead of feigning confusion. So that leaves padding stats, brain fart, or spread consciousness and I've watched the clip a bunch and I still don't have a good guess.
No, the Cavs just go through these terrible stretches (more in the first half of the season than the second), and then they get dominant again, and then they get REALLY dominant in the playoffs -- at least until they hit the Finals.
This game was more of a statement for Toronto, who has their outside hopes of somehow winning the East -- something I considered betting not too long ago at +1600, and kinda regret not doing, because honestly the team looks really good. But Toronto also is a habitual playoff choker, and Cleveland just mows down everyone in the East during the postseason, so it's probably Cleveland's year yet again.
BTW Toronto is down to +750, and honestly I didn't bet the +1600 because everyone laughed at me when I posted it here. Not that I should let people laughing at me dissuade me from betting, but I was so close to throwing like 500 on it, and then decided not to because everyone was so negative on it.
I really think Toronto is the only East team who can potentially stop them, though. I don't think Boston has enough to do it.
simpdog, our dueling bets are going to come down to trash time.
Huge 3rd for me (67 points), but now scoring is stalling in the mid-4th.
I need 16 points in 3:50 of trash time to tie, and you need fewer than 15 to win.
13 straight points in a minute did it for me.
Hit the over. Sorry simp.
Can I declare a total dead in the 1st?
Because this Lakers over is looking like pure AIDS
Still not Entirely dead depending how long Gasol and Aldridge stay in the game...
Edit...drawing slim now
Edit edit...calling for double OT and the over now
Edit edit edit...probably why I don’t watch a lot of NBA games any longer...56 3s shot with like 2 to go in the 4th and theres 167 points scored total so far. The lakers are such a trash team as well
Can I call it a decent NBA day even when one pick lost spectacularly by almost 40 points?
Well, I went 2-1, so I guess so.
Record now 111-79-2.
First NBA pick. More coming:
Washington Under 218
starting in about an hour
More NBA:
Brooklyn Under 211
Memphis under 204 -115 (203.5 ok)
Also Memphis +6.5
Looking at Portland under, but not sure yet. Will update shortly.
Today's play is Monmouth.
He lists plays as "big" and "regular".
This one is "regular"
Okay... I decided to hit the Portland under, even though it's kinda weird because of Lillard and Davis likely playing but each not at 100%.
Portland Under 220
Almost all of the money has gone on the over this game. If you hate the public, this is the bet for you, because this is super anti-public. Sharps not on this one either way.
One final under...
Golden State under 222
Curry out
Sharps are on a ton of games. Won't bother to list them all, but of my 6 picks, the sharps agree with:
Washington under
Portland under (sharps were on it, then they weren't, now they are again)
Memphis side
Golden state under
They are not with my Memphis under or Brooklyn under, but they are also not against them.
As I mentioned, sharps are on several others tonight which I'm not betting either way.
First game, Washington, not starting off very well. But it is a 218 total so it's not fucked, as those can change quickly if there's a scoring drought.
Washington under is a disaster and is basically screwed after the first half.
Brooklyn off to a mediocre start and is on approximate pace to hit the total, so that's a toss-up.
Guess I won't be going 6-0 today.
Also what's too bad is that I was considering Charlotte under, and that was also a sharps pick, but backed away from it. That one is likely to win.
Of course the sharps also went with Indiana +2.5 and that's getting crushed, so there's that. But I never considered that one.
Edit: Hmmm, now it's lined on Bovada as 205.5 so I guess I could almost have the same line on Charlotte under if I want it. I'll still pass. 6 plays is enough. Also, nice end to Brooklyn first quarter, only 4 points scored in final 2:33, so 50 point first puts us a bit ahead of what we need.
That weird Portland pick is probably going to lose, so you guys are lucky if your book locked you.
Washington under got crushed. Stopped watching in early 3rd.
Both Memphis bets off to good start.
Golden State had bad 1Q but has since looked fairly good, and is on pace to win.
Brooklyn trending whole way to win but never by a lot. Final 6 min.
Oh and boy is Cleveland struggling.
They blew a 22-point lead against Indiana and lost by 2.
Sharps who bet Indy can't believe good fortune.
