So you went to sleep 3 hours in, and your body probably didn't wake you up until the 9 hour mark, so you probably slept through a little bit of the crappiness. Where do you live where you’re confined to your house? Truthfully curious. There is nothing I can’t do. The only inconvenience being putting on a mask which isn’t an inconvenience during a run to store or when I walk in to pay for golf at the pro shop. All casinos are open here, including poker rooms. I eat and drink after round and you can’t wear mask while doing either and no one is.

Where are you where you can’t leave your house?

All of us have known about vitamin D for a year and many of us already took it.

I got the Pfizer vaccine. Both doses. I wanted to wait before talking about it because I wanted to post a full picture of my experience, rather than a running progress, because that's less useful and harder to follow.

The first dose was fairly typical, but had a sign of something to worry about for the second. I got the expected arm pain (though it was REALLY sore, to the point where I couldn't sleep well that night), but I also experienced some mild chills that night. No fever or illness, but the chills worried me, based upon what I had been hearing about the second dose!

The second dose was something I was dreading, because I just knew I'd be one of the unlucky ones getting bad side effects from it. From what I had anecdotally seen, people my age seemed about 50/50 regarding bad side effects from the second shot, and it seemed everyone either had it mildly or really bad, without much in between.

Also, from what I had observed almost everyone who had bad side effects from the second shot experienced them within 6-9 hours. It appeared that if you reached the 9 hour mark with everything being mild, you weren't going to have a bad experience.

I got my second shot, and I wondered what was in store for me.

Within 45 minutes, I developed some noticeable muscle and joint pain. Not good!

But then hours passed, and nothing further. I reached the dreaded 6 hour mark, and no change! Still muscle and joint pain, but nothing else. No fatigue, no fever, no nausea, no headache. When it had been over 11 hours and I hadn't experienced anything beyond the soreness, I declared side effect victory. No miserable illness for this guy!

About half an hour later, I started to feel tired. Then I started to feel REALLY tired. I didn't make much of it. I had actually been doing things around the house, and figured maybe I was just getting worn down by being active while so sore. It was also near the time I usually went to sleep, so I just got in bed and went to sleep.

I woke up 3.5 hours later, and I knew something was wrong. I felt cold, the muscle and joint pain was considerably worse, and I just had a flu-like feeling. This was far different than it was before. I also felt like I had a fever. Indeed, it was 100, which for me was significant because my normal temperature is around 97.3. I also almost NEVER get fevers anymore, and probably haven't had one in over a decade.

The entire day was absolute crap. High fatigue, chills, lots of muscle and joint pain, a consistent fever of 101-101.5, and just generally felt super low-energy and felt like shit. I also developed another problem -- a headache, but not for the reason you think! It was NOT a headache caused directly by the vaccine. It was a tension headache -- the ones I get about 250 times per year. This particular headache developed because I was in bed so many times throughout the day, and every time I would fall asleep in a non-ideal position, the headache would get worse. Unlike normal times, I couldn't take my usual aspirin to bring the headache down, so I had to just tolerate it, which sucked big time.

I was told, and I also anecdotally observed among peers, that all vaccine side effects will be mostly gone by 30 hours after the shot, and completely gone by 36 hours. Nope! Not for me. 36 hours after the shot, my symptoms were still going strong, complete with the 101.2 fever which had been there consistently since everything ramped up. I also started developing some nausea, but I was able to use a handheld motorized fan to prevent myself from vomiting (a trick I learned years ago). Finally, some progress occurred at about the 40-hour mark. The fever slipped to around 100.5, and I felt slightly better. A few hours after that, it fell to 99, and a few hours after that, it vanished entirely. Still, I felt fatigue and the muscle/joint pain. Things slowly kept improving, but there was no rapid relief like most people had described.

It has now been almost 72 hours since I had the vaccine. Amazingly, I'm still experiencing effects from the vaccine. No more fever, no more sick feeling, but still muscle and joint pain, and some mild fatigue. I'm hoping by tomorrow it's all better.

So.... this kinda sucked, and it looks like I had a nonstandard timeline regarding the side effects, almost like it was in slow motion.

Was it the absolute worst sickness I've felt? No. Was it shitty? Yes. Was the unexpected length of symptoms (and surprise late arrival of them) frustrating? Very.

Anyway, now I just need to wait out the remaining time and can return to life.

Despite all of this BS, I still recommend everyone over 45 get it.

Despite my feelings on anyone under 60 getting a vaccine for a virus that is not dangerous, I'm happy you got it and you feel better about living your life, here's to getting back to normal!

I wonder if it's possible that people who haven't had covid yet are getting strong reactions to the vaccine or vice versa.

I need to ask Master Scalir how he reacted to the COVID vaccine, because he got his already, and he had COVID back in early November. I know that Eric Bensamochan had COVID (also in November), and reported that his reaction to the vaccine was mild.

I know someone else who had COVID and got the vaccine, and they also had a mild reaction to it.

However, both this person and Eric had a mild version of COVID, so perhaps that's the factor here. That's actually Benjamin's theory. He thinks that your reaction to the vaccine correlates to how severely you'd experience COVID (though this theory breaks down somewhat for old people, as they seem to get milder vaccine reactions, whereas they die much more often from COVID). But it's possible Ben is partially right, in that immune system over-responses to COVID (which cause much of the illness) are also the reason certain people get sick from the vaccine.

It's also possible that this is all random, or related to factors which aren't yet understood, and may never be understood.

I'm not sure why my reaction was delayed, and why it dragged longer than usual. I'm the only person I know who got a bad reaction yet didn't experience it until nearly 12 hours in.

However, some of the people who had bad reactions experienced it worse than I did (some described it as the sickest they've ever been), but it was shorter-lived. This was like a mid-grade flu for me, but it dragged over a period of days, rather than just 24 hours like most people.

My wife had a delayed response like yours. Got her second shoot before her 12 hour shift started and thought she was in the clear. Got home that night and was fucked up for about 10-12 hours.

About half the people have a pretty easy time with the second shot, from what I've seen. For example, khalwat got his shot and was on our show last week, sounding healthy as ever and giving $700 to the freeroll. He's slightly older than me.

The other half... well, it's one really shitty day... about 2.5 if you're unlucky like me.

Oh I'm convinced it's almost over for me. While I didn't have the abrupt horrible-to-better improvement like most people, it's been a gradual process of feeling better, which started after everything peaked yesterday morning. By the evening yesterday there was already a substantial difference, and today I'm just not feeling 100%, with various aches and not as much energy.

It's just too important NOT to do, though, especially at my age. I also resisted taking any medication, even when it was REALLY tempting during the unrelenting headache period on Monday.

I feel bad for anyone you "helped" while being a nurse. If you really were one. While I am not a fan and was considering not getting the vaccine, I believe the benefits outweigh one or two days of feeling awful.

It shouldn't bother anyone that someone chooses to get the vaccination. Make your own choice.

Got the 2nd shot Pfizer last week. My wife ended up feeling achy/getting the chills right at the 24 hour mark and it lasted about 4 hours then she was fine. I got my shot at 5pm and woke up the next morning slightly achy; probably more accurately sore more than anything. Once I was open and moving around though I felt completely fine and ended up having no side affects. Winning.

13 hrs for me. I have moderate arm pain but that’s it so far

So I got something weird yesterday which I'm guessing is probably related to the vaccine.

I was up all night and nobody else in the house was. I didn't talk on the phone at all, so I hadn't use my voice in several hours.

Benjamin came down at 5:30am because he couldn't sleep anymore. I tried to responsd to him, and I felt like I had just done 9 hours of radio. My voice was hoarse, it hurt to talk, and I had no idea why it was happening. How could I be having such vocal issues when it had been many hours since I last spoke?

It remained like that, and then I got very tired, and I basically lost yesterday. I slept most of the day and most of the night, finally waking up for good at 4:30am. The sleep wasn't very good quality, either, as I kept having a lot of short dreams and waking up, then going back to sleep.

I still am having some vocal issues now, though not as bad. For that reason, I'm delaying radio (at least) one day.

Not 100% sure it's vaccine related, but I have to think so. Weird.

so my wife and i are stragglers re: vaccination for many reasons (family business to take care of, wanting to be vaccinated at the same time but she wasn't the magic age yet, finding a place that had vaccine, and assurance that 2nd dosage would be available)

and in our state, you were suppose to call you county health department who for only one patient per call would register your request for an appointment. Then they were to call back a day or so later with an appointment at some location they thought was reasonably close to you home and at a time they specified, and you had to show up and take only the shot offered--no choice) We called and made a request 10 days ago---no call back...then last Saturday afternoon on the news radio broadcast we hear commercials saying come down to the local city center, no waiting for vaccine shots, no appointment needed...

anyway, we work out our personal issues blocking getting a shot and decide lets just crash call the nearest Walgreen's--12 miles away from home... we and walk in: no patients are waiting for a shot! we walk up to the counter and the lady tells us: yes, we have vaccine, no we are not busy, yes we have the Pfizer and we have plenty of supply so you will get a 2nd shot a few weeks later....but you need to make an appointment by going online or calling an 800 number and come back tomorrow (Don't know why the need to reserve time, there were appointment times going to waste that day)

So back home we go to make an appointment online...but Walgreen requires you to set up a Walgreen's online account (indeed, never let a chance go by to add names to the spam list!!) So we try to enroll, each answering the questions put to us by the software--but it won't accept us? Gee, and this was soooo simple but the techno geeks haven't learned yet that boomers can break any software by following directions and prompts put there by snot nosed programmers.

So the fall back---telephone Walgreen national to make an appointment---okay, after a not too long of a wait, a nice lady comes on, my wife answers all the questions for her and sets an appointment...then surprise, the nice lady also accepts my information and sets a appointment at the same Walgreens at the same time for me!! (Got to be some mistake, Corp America isn't that reasonable no?)

so the first shot appointments are tomorrow, and the 2nd shot are a few weeks later and already booked---just wondering if there will be some more delays, paperwork problems or if the local Walgreens will be told of the appointment national office made for us.
