True story. http://www.ibtimes.com/columbus-day-...ederal-2428152
Government offices
It's a federal holiday, which means don't expect federal or state government offices to be open. Some county offices may remain open.
Marty, the Rio Grande current is not to be trifled with, so be careful on your way back to Rosarito
So is this like a busboy but on a boat?
Point is you were "vetted" by DHS no more than a person applying for a passport would be vetted. You tried to make it sound like they did some thorough check on you and it's simply not true. You said yourself you never had an in person interview.
I in fact made a few personal calls today and inquired about the process of obtaining a merchant mariner certification, as I don't deal with that in my day to day. What I learned is we have in no way shape or form given you any security clearance, approval, vetted you, etc. So please quit acting like you passed a rigorous DHS background because you didn't. You couldn't. A 5 minute PFA search would exclude you
you obviously didn't read the OP
I'm a department head responsible for writing menus, ordering provisions, delegating overtime, and supervising a crew of anywhere from 5-8 Steward department personnel
'busboys' are not required to pass the ServSafe Managers exam
In this particular case with my upcoming position, I'm ultimately responsible for feeding 90 civilians and military subcontractors 3 times a day
you're a fucking idiot talking out of your ass and don't know shit....
you actually think attaining a Merchant Mariner Credential is as simple as applying for a passport ?
wow
so you made a few calls to your buddies today ?
LOL
sorry you got caught implying you contacted DHS today when in fact its a holiday...that sucks for you Chubbs
and yes, when I was applying for my TWIC card, I did have an 'in person' interview you KNOB
get a life you fat fuck
oh and enjoy grinding out your shit job every month for what I'm going to be making weekly
more updates will be forthcoming as soon as I fly out and join my ship this week
CLOWN

Just a scathing report that shows your little TWIC card involved no "vetting" of you whatsoever.
the vetting process involves a variety of background questions which you know nothing about, because security guards aren't required to possess a TWIC card.
In addition, just to take the VPDSD course requires a second round with DHS
are you that stupid ?
oh and just out of curiosity, how did your conversation go today with the Department of Homeland Security considering they are CLOSED
you're the biggest toolbox on this site you bet welching fat slob
good luck with the rest of your glamorous career as a minimum wage rent a cop
I'm glad to were able to pass security clearance despite your connection to Micon.
So I guess I'm wondering why you didn't;t do this sooner? I get it was a lot of work but seems pretty sweet.
In case you haven't followed along, I've been employed by DHS since February. Others on this board can verify. After successful completion of coursework at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in Brunswick GA, I've had a gravy desk job in KC ever since.
I don't doubt much of your story Marty. I'm simply replying to your "extensive vetting" remark. It's a laughable grandiose exaggeration to unnecessarily try to add validity to your situation. TWIC cards ain't shit bro
Hopefully the most important points are true. Impossible to knock another man's hustle if your doing it for real. Good for you JD.
LOL tyde you blocked out your last name but the license/certification numbers are sitting there for the world to see. Delete that shit before any of the weirdos here get any bright ideas.
Lol at dangiel allowing human trash like searles to take shots at mort goatrico
Lovely of j Searles to make his return here in such a positive fashion.
Feeling better after wishing death on delaware?
Hopefully that dilemma with KFC cookies got resolved.
Nice to hear that the DHS is doing such a great job in their vetting & hiring practices.
Tyde! The fuck, man?!
You jump through these hoops to get a good paying gig, you say that leaving that gig was the biggest mistake of your life. And your plan now is to do it for 6 months, make a few thousand bucks, then leave and go back to sitting in front of your computer screen... which is what you spent many paragraphs talking about how much you hate?
Stay there!
Fail
a few thousand bucks ?
I'm in a position to stash 45 grand plus in 4 months or so
why would I voluntarily work full time, when I can stash a significant nest egg to grind low stakes in Mexico back on Stars
I'm not particularly excited about shipping out again
its hard work...and great money
but I still love poker
rico plz stop taking career advice from a guy named dustin
also tyde what state are you paying taxes in cuz 12700 with insurance is like 1600 a week
congrats on the gig marty, but you know results like the above are nowhere near sustainable
if you're making $12k/month, going 4 months on and 2 off, why not travel during your downtime?
you could go to brazil, for example, for two months, party your ass off and still play on stars trying to bink something while still maintaining employment
6 months later you could be spending two months in costa rica or where ever
if everything you say about this job is true, you'd be a fool to bail after 4 months. you may still be licensed as a merchant marine, but you're not going to be offered $12k/month cush type jobs if you don't show any inclination of being a reliable, long term employee
If Hillary wins, I'm sure jsearles gets promoted.
I know some people who do exactly what Marty is planning all the time. Grind for huge dividends then take a 4-8 month vacation. Granted, these are people who pocket low six figures for 6 months of work then get paid another low 6 just to not work for the competition for a year, that sort of thing, but they are also spending their downtime in like, London, not Mexico.
Point being, there arent a lot of gigs you can do it with but if you have one, its sorta dumb not to.
