In a week, the entire Lincoln Memorial would be ankle deep in garbage. Mobs of tourists are amazingly filthy. These places are closed because there's nobody available to clean them.

Of course the whole thing is ridiculous. Plenty of the top people openly admit that its ridiculous. But Ted Cruz and a handful of Congressmen, backed by a small but very vocal group of supporters, want to fuck the government up as much as possible. Unfortunately they have the ability to do so.

Exactly. Guy has claimed for years how delusional many posters are and how he is the beacon of truth, and how much smarter he is than everyone else. It's like a broken record. I hope the Republicans dig in for months. This is healthy. I get the fact Republicans will be in the minority for quite some time, this is what happens when you give the vast majority a bunch of free shit and the other party (Republicans) object. Given the average Fox viewer's love of Paula Deen, and their abject fear that the government is going to put a limit on their pork rinds, calling it a slimdown is probably a bad line to take if you're looking to spin a wildly unpopular decision into something that has support. They hear slimdown, they just hit the disapprove button without even hearing the rest of the question.

Slimdown is kind of a good analogy though. This isn't that different than a diet. The budget is obese, and much like it's populace, it loves to discuss how bloated our debt belly is, but when it comes to actually cutting weight, it cringes and disapproves as soon as it's time for any real work to be put in. That post from Cmoney is pretty accurate in regards to how the average American budgets. They are $20k in the hole, and rather than cut out the $8 Starbucks they have every morning, or the $200 monthly cell phone bill, they will drop Showtime, save $7 a month, and call it a day. Then they'll add it back on a month later when they want to watch Shameless. That our government reflects the people who put them there is not really a shocker.

I know the provocateurs that are pulling this off are mainly concerned about defunding Obamacare, so put them to the test. For every cut they want to make, go dollar for dollar on defense spending vs. what they want to cut. Spending .58 out of every dollar spent by the rest of the world on defense is the entire pizza consumed nightly that has caused this giant belly of debt. If we only outspent China 3-1, instead of the present 6-1, that's a lot of fucking money. Put that on the table dollar for dollar, and we'll see where the cards fall. Even if the tea party faction is down for that, the problem is that would meet extreme resistance from both sides, hence why we are so fucked up as a country.

What is this talk of universal health care and reduction in defense spending? Are you trying to become Canada?

I love it when people point to a country like Sweden, which has the population of New Mexico, and say "see it works there it can work here". LOL. There are 325 Million people in this country, half of which are fucking obese and broke. Most of these people generally die from diabetic shock or heart disease in their 50s. To know give them full access to the health care system, my God, they will be in the emergency room every other week and live to they are 90.

The beauty of all of this all, the health conscious liberals that supported Obama and worked the phone banks for free in 2012, will now see their health care costs triple. We'll see how they like that when they have to cancel their vacations.
