They are emptying the jails, and putting these felons out on the streets. Some of them, they will put ankle bracelets on, yet, they have no fucking clue where those guys are. Many have removed their bracelets and no one knows how to find them

Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart will be closing its oldest jail building on the South Side of Chicago while placing all female inmates in one renovated building.

Dart said Friday he'll start closing Division 1 of the jail campus at 27th Street and California Avenue on Feb. 8. It's a maximum-security building and the oldest on the campus, opened in 1929. The inmates there will be spread among the remaining buildings.

And beginning Monday, the primary female divisions -- Division 3 and Division 17 -- will shut down, with all the women moved to Division 4, which had been temporarily closed and undergoing renovations for the past two years.

How much of the jail is closed now?

With the three buildings' closures, four Cook County jail buildings will no longer house inmates. Division 5 shut down about two years ago.

And here's an amusing little aside:
More than 2,300 men and women are now assigned to electronic monitoring, up from an average of about 520 in 2009.
Four times the previous number, resulting a record high of inmates that Dart has no fucking idea where they are. Some sheriffs have commented that nearly 400 inmates cannot be accounted for at all. It makes everyone wonder if this might be a contributing factor to the sky high shooting numbers.

Of course there are a few scumbag cops but the same goes for any profession.Imo most chicago cops are hardworking and honest. I know at least 20 and they are all good guys(I grew up with a bunch of them)
I was a reckless fuck when I was young and had many run ins with the cpd, i was always treated fairly, im sure being white didn't hurt my situation but i also wasn't robbing people and beating entire families to death with table legs like some of these assholes

I then gave you facts (some from your links) that indicated a very small amount were prosecuted for those crimes (keep in mind, some were crimes where they had consensual sex, but while they were on the clock....fucking in the bathroom kind of stuff).

So we have the highest incarceration rate in the world, we have more non violent criminals in jail than is morally or ethically acceptable and you are upset people are being let out. Half the people in jail should be getting treatment not in jail learning how to be real criminals or having their lives so fucked up that they can't have a normal life after prison.

If we have the highest incarceration rate in the world, you are going to have to show me stats that indicate this (Im assuming you mean our COUNTRY, which is correct, but Im speaking about CHICAGO), because the stats and info I have seen, TRULY show the exact opposite. The state of IL is ranked like 10th or so in terms of incarceration.(EDIT: ranked 14th) AND, the people that are being put in place here in Chicago (Kim Fox and Preckwinkle) have stated that they are against the police and want to empty the jails. Preckwinkle is making efforts which would lead someone to believe that she wants to create her own type of "force" and get rid of the CPD entirely. That should go well....<rolls eyes>. The judges have been telling prosecutors here to not even waste their time; they wont send people to prison. Fines are normally recommended (city is so broke that they would rather have money coming in than put someone in jail, so you should actually like this info), but the people keep committing more and more crimes after paying the fines.

I disagree that its "morally unacceptable", particularly when the felons committed a crime deserving of the punishment. How else do we teach/punish people for doing these crimes? Many of them have had dozens....DOZENS of chances to learn to not commit crimes. The problem is exacerbated when people are let out early, but DO NOT get the mental treatment that so many of them need. I totally agree with you there. There needs to be more mental care for people, yet the Mental facilities are getting closed down. They are released back into society, and in many cases, even more violent than they were prior to going in.
