I see much similarity between the arc of politics & economics in Britain and the US. This might account for the interest guys like LordoftheFraud have in our story. It resonates with them.
The disaffected insecure white working class (precariat) in the US. Instead of the socialist leap they chose to turn their back on the Democrats who failed to give them a handout. Everyone else gets something but not them.
So they give the middle finger to the status quo and took a shot from half court with Trump. He will disappoint as he cannot change that chart. Post Trump, America will continue its socialist trajectory with discussions of single payer insurance etc.
You gotta smile if you consider Germany in the early 30's. Can't win a war. National pride slipping. When the stock bubble finally bursts the pin might be completely pulled.
If you think that this election was just some crazy anomoly - and I think everyone does - then you still don't get it. If you, like Druff, hold out hope for a rebuilding of the Republican Party then, again, you don't understand what you witnessed.
First step, even with Trump, will be a liveable minimum wage for the service economy crowd. It's a backwards socialism.
The country is in the throes of change. Of course, what you end up with is the inexorable march toward Britain. Germany would be fine but we are too fucked up and recently they fucked up their good run.
Giving the public the right to vote. It was a fine experiment.
I will tell you this, democracy took a black eye. As the world witnessed our crass election they had to laugh. China and Russia gotta be feeling pretty smug right now
In a nod to FPS, Cruz, Rubio, Killary and Trump you detect that it might be time to give fascism a chance. Carpet bomb them all into oblivion
