I did some thinking on this. It really wasn't the GOP itself that caused this to occur. The fact is almost all the GOP members voted against tossing McCarthy. This was more a case of 8 alt righters getting pissed off because McCarthy wouldn't do what they wanted which was a bit insane to begin with. The Democrats of course went gleefully going along for the ride, handing them the gas to pour on the fire to torch McCarthy.
