When he discouraged people from wearing masks initially he explained that a shortage for healthcare workers was part of the reason people shouldn't run out and buy masks.
And in your brain somehow you've convinced yourself that when his stance on masks changed he admitted he was lying to benefit the healthcare workers.
Remarkable.
I'd love to hear your theory on why Faucci decided to lie. Was it because he's part of the deep state trying to bring down Trump?
Go read the article I linked. Fauci makes it very clear he LIED about masks not providing a benefit because he wanted healthcare workers to be able to obtain the N-95 masks first.
He meant well when he did it. However, the bottom line is that he lied to the people about masks because he thought the lie was for the greater good.
This is why you don't blindly listen to the so-called "experts", and do a sanity check on all statements made.
Additionally, doctors are not policymakers. The absolute safest thing for us to do, COVID-wise, is to stay in our homes and never set foot out our doors, at any time for any reason. This would also be a really bad idea policy-wise. Therefore, "follow the science" and "listen to the doctors" is a bunch of arrogant nonsense which doesn't really mean anything.
Similarly, let's say you have $5,000 to your name, and you go to the doctor, who wants to run a painful (but not dangerous) $4,000 test for a non-deadly condition where your chances of having it are 1%. From a medical standpoint, you should take the test. From a medical standpoint, the right advice would be to take the test. In fact, the doctor could be sued for malpractice if he advised NOT to take the test! From a life management standpoint, you'd be a moron to take the test in this situation.
There's always a balance between the safest medical advice and the most practical application of that advice.
Simpleton leftists think that you need to blindly listen to "doctors" (but only the ones they agree with), and ignore all of the policy implications of the doctors' advice.
I mean, this is dumbfounding how ridiculous your argument is.
The guy literally explained in March that people shouldn't be buying facemasks because there was a shortage and health workers needed them more.
In your article from June, when asked why he told people not to wear masks, he said the same thing.
Think about it for a second.
Doctor Anthony Fauci was the world's 10th most cited HIV/AIDS researcher from 1996 through 2006. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and holds 38 honorary doctoral degrees from universities all over the world. He received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College.
Donald Trump is a fucking fraud who cheated on his SAT tests to get in Wharton Business School.
Trump is a fucking coward who got phony medical deferments to avoid the military draft.

I think he lied for the health care workers, but I also think he lied because he’s a political animal and he wanted in the game and he wasn’t in the game to the degree he wanted from the start. This is a problem with the swamp, but it’s also a problem with Trump. It points to the very real problem that there is a swamp, but it also points to the problem that Trump is part of it and makes it worse.
Like a real clean up the swamp guy says I don’t want bureaucrats telling me what I want to hear. I want the truth. That’s the furthest thing from Trump.
You don’t have that position Fauci has had through five or six different administrations without being a political animal yourself. He’s a great doctor who I’m sure has done great work, but he also likes the attention and the invites to the cocktail parties. That’s very clear.
It was also very clear from the start that Trump was going to downplay the virus and if you wanted to be on team task force, you better get on board. I’d have more respect for Fauci has he stepped down and just said this motherfucker is willing to kill us all if it means getting re-elected, but he didn’t.
I’m sure he justified it to himself by convincing himself he’d do more good and save more lives working from the inside, but my read from the start was he knew how Trump is wired, because everyone does, and he downplayed it enough to get himself to get on the task force. If everyone wants to downplay it, you figure you can navigate the situation and be the voice of reason in the room. Even Birx, who was more willing to fall in line with Trump, basically now thinks he’s crazy and has a moron running shit. This thing has been political from the day bodies started dropping because of the timing.
Massive land slide is coming :)

My guess is he lied because Faucci criticized Trump. I'm sure it didn't hurt that Trump has been blatantly misrepresenting Fauccis statements himself at rallies and in campaign ads. If Trump can get away with it, why not Druff?
2016 Druff would've had no problem calling out anyone who pulled this kind of thing regardless of any politics. Hopefully whatever happened to him since then isn't permanent.
This is the relevant part from the March interview:
"There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences — people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.
But there is another risk to healthy people buying disposable masks as a precaution. The price of face masks is surging, and Prestige Ameritech, the nation's largest surgical mask manufacturer, is now struggling to keep up with the increased demand.
It could lead to a shortage of masks for the people who really need it."
In June, Fauci again repeated that back in March, the shortage of PPE motivated him to tell people not to wear masks.
And now, Druff is trying to convince people that when he said it in June he was confessing that he lied back in March, even though he said the same thing both times.
so its worth noting that in the last 72 hours or so of the previous election, the FBI made some clumsy announcement about emails / hillary and it hit _hard_ and a ton of swing states shifted noticeably towards trump.
nothing even close to that is happening right now.
It wasn't that Hillary was a hated candidate, crooked, compromised, or handed the nomination without a real primary, IT WAS THE FBI WHO COST HER THE ELECTION.
Or was it the Russians?
There is always someone else to blame when Dems lose, it is never their actions, incompetence, or terrible ideas.
Comey's clumsy announcement 3 days before the election was nothing compared to the last 5 months of riots and violence.
Talk is cheap, I guess we will all see tomorrow.
yeah the hillary=bitch factor was on my radar but i hadnt considered how hard that fbi letter played into some of those swing state numbers. it was absolutely a thing.
not saying trump would have lost without it, but it makes the chances of him pulling off another miracle 3 pointer from mid court that much less realistic.
They might cry about it for a second, but will quickly pivot to praying that Biden's heart and brain hold up for 4 more years to avoid President Kamala.
Dem led cities aren't shutting down a week early to board up their storefronts due to the fear of Trump voters coming to town.
I don’t know what you mean by this? I just quoted Druff because it was on topic. Lie might be too strong, but I was reading everything back then, so nothing Druff posted influenced my thinking whatsoever on this subject
I also don’t agree with his take on Trumps handling of this virus in any way or the idea we get the same results under any administration.
I saw the statement you posted where it gives greater context to his earlier comments. I was aware of that back when it happened.
I knew PPE was short. I also recall initially that before Fauci was in the inner circle, many in the medical world were really pushing Trump to add him to the inner circle because he was so respected. I recall thinking that Fauci was kind of saying the right things to get added to the team imo.
For example. I remember back when Fauci was saying things along the lines of, “at the moment, the flu presents a much bigger risk.” I put it in quotes but I’m going from memory. He said many similar things like that. Sometimes he’d follow it up with some clarifying statement, sometimes not.
That was factually true at the time. That’s sound science. But it also was music to Trumps ear. It kind of ignored the fact that while thats true right now, we can ballpark how much risk the flu will be going forward within some range, while this thing is a whole different beast.
Most of us who were following it closely were far more alarmist than him.
So when I say lie or swamp, thats probably too harsh. I like him. I think he’s a good guy. I also think he emphasized things in such a way that he thought would get him in the room.
If he had phrased things in such a way early like.” the flu presents a bigger problem this week or month, but this virus if it spreads could potentially kill millions”, then I don’t think he gets into the room to help guide decisions.
There was this brief time early where he was very cautious in his statements, at least that I saw, in such a way that would appeal to Trump. We ended up locking things down. Trump did go from it will disappear to taking it seriously for a brief time, so maybe it was an effective approach?
I just don’t think you can have that position he has has occupied without being a bit of a political animal yourself, and I saw shades of that early imo, and was a little put off by it back then. We are talking a matter of weeks. Feb-March, people went from kind of cautious statements to the upmost serious statements very quickly.
I guess I would ask you, if we had a different President, do you think he makes more serious warning statements earlier? I think he would have. I think he would have spoke more freely imo. If I believe that, then I think he was playing politics. I believed it then. I still take his word 100 times out of a 100 over Trumps.
this is pretty much reality libtards, prepare yourself for the sequel
This isn’t all that bold. If you asked your average person on the street barely paying attention which states Biden needed to win, they’d sat the rust belt states Hillary barely lost. Only those looking at shit close would make an argument for places like Georgia or Texas being possible Biden wins. People associate those as red states.
you're right it isn't that bold, it can be done quite easily
most gamblers know whats up
my mile high read is 4chan found out it wasnt validating ips and went apeshit.
Democratic party is so out of touch they are running the same Lady Gaga election eve concert they did in 2016.
Kamala comes out in favor of socialism 2 days before the campaign.
Governor Whitmer orders restaurants to track all restaurant diners, starting the day before the election.
Philly burns down PA over a felon who got himself shot, charging at cops with a knife.
Is the Dems lose MI or PA, you will know why. Ditto for WI and MN.
Yep. Unlike in 2016 this is not a race where we're going to see a last minute swing in either direction.
what do u think of this one u fkn pos moron?? "unlike 2016" he says sooo sure of himself. guy is gonna lose his ass
