For all the rhetoric my understanding is that all NK has really wanted all along is for us to leave them alone to do their thing, which we have not been willing to do for geopolitical (and perhaps ethical) reasons, and denuclearization in exchange for security has always been on the table. We are the one that declared war on them and invaded them and are still technically at war with them. Given that, I am not sure this stance is any big breakthrough. From my understanding the big breakthrough would be the US, SK and the rest of the Western World accepting an "evil" NK regime and letting them be.Quote:
