I would have been sad if this had happened to any of the previous Republican candidates during my lifetime. Trump... I would only be sad on a practical level, that this would virtually assure a Biden victory.
I've never liked Trump as a person. I liked most of his policies while in office. I don't like his demeanor or character.
His prognosis is better than you think. First off, he will have the very best possible medical care. Second, you're much more likely at age 74 to survive than die. It's not a death sentence. You just have a realistic chance of dying, whereas getting it at 50 will typically not kill you unless you're really unlucky, and you won't die from it at 30 unless you're super duper unlucky.
I think he survives this, which believe it or not, may help him. He also may stay asymptomatic.

Ok, so he get's infected and has mild symptoms or no symptoms. That's the most likely outcome. His chance of incubation is probably less than 20%. He says he's much stronger than Joe Biden because he was able to beat the coronavirus easily and it fits his narrative of the virus not being such a big deal. Nation rallies around Trump. About 5.4% of people infected over 70 die from it.
However, Trump has a much less than 5.4% chance of dying. These reasons include:
1) He isn't showing symptoms yet, from what we can tell.
2) His health is not bad. Many people over 70 who die from COVID have major, noticeable health issues.
3) He is not that much over 70. The "over 70" group includes people over 80 and 90, too, and they die at a higher rate.
4) He will get the very top level care, and will be monitored constantly.
Now, if it's destined that COVID ravages his body and attacks him badly, there's not much that can be done at this point. But as I said, the chances are fairly low. As has already been mentioned, if he recovers from it and appears healthy again, this could hep his reelection chances.
