He was peaking having already earned over $2M this year alone winning the Sony Open in January. His career took a dive in his mid to late 20s due to alcoholism and depression. He withdrew from the Colonial Friday despite playing pretty well. Just recently signed a big contract with Mizzuno and dead the next day.
I have battled alcohol, and thankfully not depression. At least clinical depression. But I have been up at 4am sitting alone in my office with my life going on the surface great, only to be massively upset nursing a vodka watching reruns on TV. My depression was not clinical, rather a by byproduct of alcohol. Obviously did not know Grayson, but I would think he was suffering from clinical depression, and the alcohol which is a depressant fueled his decision to commit suicide.
I am not going to say I walked in his shoes. I am older, actually a lot older by 20 years. But I get how someone could be that off the mental grid to end it. Not saying I was close, but 4am in the pitch dark, drunk, play tricks on your mind. I am off the sauce, but yeah, I get the fact people can't take it much longer in the middle of the night with any form of a mental issue, drunk. Guy seemed like a good dude on his recent interviews. RIP.
