Ali was admitted to a hospital here in Scottsdale AZ yesterday for "respiratory issues" and they made it sound like nothing serious, as he was expected to only be in for a few days and then be released. As of this afternoon he was placed on life support and is in ICU with family by his side. Guess they are waiting for family to arrive here before they pull the plug.

Ali has been suffering from Parkinson's for years and looked very frail at the last fundraiser he attended less then two months ago.

Muhammad Ali 'The Greatest' Dead at 74

Muhammad Ali has died in a Phoenix-area hospital where he was battling respiratory issues ... according to multiple reports.

The legendary boxer and humanitarian was 74 years old. He had checked into the hospital on Thursday and reps said he was in fair condition, but on Friday his health worsened throughout the day. NBC News first reported his death, quoting a family spokesperson.


Ali will be remembered as one of the most recognized figures worldwide -- after winning boxing's heavyweight title 3 different times ... with the first coming in a KO of Sonny Liston in 1964.


He was as famous for his boxing matches -- the "Rumble in the Jungle," the "Thrilla in Manila" -- as quotes like, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."

I think him standing up against the Vietnam war was much more impressive than anything he's done in the ring ainec. The pro war culture in America then was incredible. When the chicken hawks wanted to chest thump and lie us into a conflict (Gulf of Tonkin) your duty was to be drop everything and be willing to die for the cause no questions asked.

Meanwhile Trump, Cheney, and Limbaugh have their stack of deferments for ailments so laughable it was like some sort of sick inside joke.
