Druff you are right, Mark said he will go back to "grinding"which I am sure means the Commerce limit game.....he had to be gutted so I wish him well..... Btw Esfandiari has been stellar in his commentary IMO.....too bad we have to hear from Helmuth.....

I never really heard a thing Hellmuth said. I was transfixed by Negraneau's & Hellmuth's hair.

I mean what the hell is going on with Negraneau in particular?

I also think this will probably mean Newhouse will return to the Commerce 100-200 game, whereas before he had said he was going to be done with it.
They cashed him out back in July for $730,725 + maybe he got $100K for sponsorship stickers worn on his t-shirt at final table.
Did Newhouse have 100% of himself in main event?

Newhouse is a California resident so he'll have to pay 13% in state tax.
He'll owe about 39% in federal taxes.
However he can deduct buy-in's, losses, travel expenses, etc.

So he should've held on to at least $300K.

Of that, how much money to you think he has left?

Not sure but he has been living at the Commerce so that adds up....hopefully he has been more careful recently than he was when he was younger....

iirc he has the same amount of himself as he did last year...so yeah he didn't get that much i'd imagine. at least we can say he's probably out of debt and has a nice little bankroll to start going on again without having to sell pieces.

Martin Jacobson had about $5 million in tournament winnings before the WSOP.
A swedish citizen living in London. Not sure how much in taxes (if any) that he would pay on $10 million.
Peter Eastgate moved to London from Denmark (70% taxes?) before he won in 2008.

Jacobson put on a clinic on how to play a short-stack in NLH.

Best WSOP final table in years.

Slight derail tho - wtf is up w/ Sarah Grant's hair? did she age dramatically the past few months or did she dye her hair gray/silver?

    that's definitely dyed

I barely watch poker these days but I did catch some of this and I have to say this was pretty enjoyable. Yesterday I thought that HOOFnig was approaching a level that his opponents couldn't catch up to despite them also playing well.

Tonight HOOFnig wasn't the same, I don't know if the break toppled w/ his opponents pro friends analyzing hands got in to his head but he really seemed to have lost whatever he had.

Any one of the the 3 could have won and I would have been just fine with it but Jacobson definitely played the best (I really thought Stephensen was a little over matched vs HOOFnig/Jacobson)

I think Newhouse played like 8 out of the first 12 hands.

I am not sure why he decided to try and steam roll the table. Unless he thought everyone was going to be playing passive so he would be aggressive and try and steal as much as possible.

Not often you can fold for a million dollar bump in payouts though. Seems like he had a terrible strategy, although I don't have 3+ million in lifetime tourney cashes, so what the fuck do I know?

Shit didn't work out, it's whatever man. I'm in a better spot than I was a couple years ago and I'll be ok. I am so happy for...

Never felt sorry for anybody I didn't know busting out of a tournament. But I did for that poor cunt last night walking away from the table.
