    Setup a small blog

What is the easiest way to set up a simple blog? I'm going on a couple week poker trip and wanted to blog about it.

Chinamaniac's suggestion is a good one. You'll have a ready audience for your blog posts.

If you want a separate, stand alone blog just open a G-mail account and use Google's free, easy to use blog platform, Blogger.

There are no hosting costs. Just set one up and start blogging.

Google also allows you to use your own domain name. Pick one up at GoDaddy for less than $10.

I'd stay away from recommending godaddy. If you ever have a problem, you're pretty much fucked. The only thing they do well is advertise.

Namecheap.com is one of many better alternatives to godaddy. There are many others. Remember, Godaddy didn't just support SOPA, they had their lawyers help write the fucking thing. Fuck those fucky fucks.

I just used namecheap for my latest domain and liked the process. f godaddy.
A domain + cheapest hosting plan was about $60USD, good for a year. Many people suggest using a different place to host then register domains from. I just couldn't be bothered.

Thank you Crowe Diddly and Deal. You're both correct. Although GoDaddy always gave me good customer service, I never liked their aggressive upselling (during checkout) and their 'advertising' with Danica Patrick and Vanessa Rousso must have brainwashed me because I forgot about GoDaddy's enthusiasm for SOPA.

I have never used NameCheap but will check them out.

I could be 1000% wrong here but Id expect both to charge money to configure their webserver to alias a domain name to a local blog instance. Id be surprised if they didnt, lets put it that way.
