Newsom probably would parole him if he could. He is no longer a threat to society. It would be political suicide however. As a lifelong California Dem, I would be personally be outraged. Two guys are/were never getting parole in California: Charles Manson and Sirhan Sirhan.

Newsom would parole Sirhan Sirhan if he promised to vote democrat. Newsom would just ask him to move to Texas however.
