    Downtown Reno casinos report

I did a tour of Downtown Reno casinos where I broke in as a craps dealer. Harrah's, Harolds Club, Eldorado, Circus Circus, Silver Legacy, Club Cal-Neva, Nevada Club, Fitzgeralds, John Asquaga's Nugget, and Grand Sierra Resort (Was MGM Grand in 1978) are mentioned. My first blackjack barring for card counting was at the Eldorado casino in 1997. Years before that, I was dealing 25 cent craps games at the Club Cal-Neva, which helped me land a craps dealing job at Del Webb's Mint Casino in Las Vegas. If a dealer can deal in 25 cent units, he/she can deal in high limit games thinking in units. I also dealt craps at Harolds Club, which was bought and torn down by Harrah's along with the Nevada Club in the 90's

I go to Reno for work regularly and have been inside most of those casinos. The whole town feels like it was frozen in 1980, and the only change has been an accumulation of grime on everything.

"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
