Latest Liberal Democrat Bullshit: Paid Leave is Infrastructure

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., is getting flak after she tweeted examples of infrastructure that seemed to stretch the meaning of the word.

Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines infrastructure as "the system of public works of a country, state, or region," "he resources (such as personnel, buildings, or equipment) required for an activity," "the underlying foundation or basic framework (as of a system or organization)," or "the permanent installations required for military purposes."

Politically, it is often considered to refer to transportation, roads, bridges and items of that nature.

"Paid leave is infrastructure. Child care is infrastructure. Caregiving is infrastructure," Gillbrand tweeted Wednesday morning.

This quickly led to a barrage of mockery and criticism. Some took an absurdist approach, implying that Gillibrand's tweet is removed from reality.

"Unicorns are infrastructure. Love is infrastructure. Herpes is infrastructure. Everything is infrastructure," Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro tweeted.

"Brunch is infrastructure. Kendall Jenner is infrastructure. The Snyder Cut is infrastructure," The Federalist publisher Ben Domenech said.
Others, such as Rep. Mary Miller, R-Ill., and Donald Trump Jr., countered with their own real example of infrastructure: the wall along the southern border that was started by former President Donald Trump and halted by President Biden.

The Washington Examiner's Jerry Dunleavy alleged that Gillibrand was intentionally stretching the meaning of "infrastructure" to give an excuse for Democrats to incorporate various agenda items in their infrastructure bill.

It was not just conservatives who criticized Gillibrand. The liberal former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann called out the senator for her use of the word.

"No, Senator. These are all vital needs. I would argue they are as important as nuts and bolts and grids and networks," Olbermann tweeted. "But when you drain a word of it’s meaning, you damage its impact, your cause, and the value of language."

Clearly this is bullshit that even Keith Olberman can't put up with.

I agree it's not infrastructure, but it's important and it is lumped into a bill with infrastructure and a lot of other things because all bills are like that. They have 3 shots per year to pass bills with only a majority via "budget reconciliation" when what they should do is just get rid of the filibuster.

And here we have the old "The End justifies the means" argument that Liberals often use. No. Will not let this one go without addressing it.

While you may deem it Important, The Senator just made up some bullshit to justify it's inclusion in the bill. She figure the MSM would give her a pass and the liberal lemmings would all parrot what she said. FAIL on that one.

Getting rid of the Filibuster is a bad idea no matter who is in power. It basically protects very slim majorities shoving legislation down the throats of the minority party. It protected the Dems when they were in the minority. The Dems' shortsightedness will come back to haunt them. Just ask Senator Harry Reid.

What Liberals like yourself fail to comprehend is that 2 wrongs don't make a right. Simple easy rule to live by and to avoid unnecessary issues. But, Intellectual dishonesty is necessary for Liberals to survive.

The filibuster allows a small minority to obstruct anything from actually happening. It's ridiculous and no tortured explanation makes it any more justifiable.

Republicans are acting like the filibuster was handed down with the 10 commandments. It's not in the Constitution and wasn't around during the founding era. It's been modified many times. Senators used to actually have to stand up and talk continuously. It used to be 2/3rds, not 3/5ths. It used to apply to budgets and judges. Its days are numbered.

It was a dumb thing for Gilibrand to say but not really relevant.

Actually, your filibuster comment was irrelevant to this thread. And was only used to deflect from her bullshit justification for an Infrastructure Bill that has a lot of junk in it that has nothing to do with Infrastructure.
