You actually don;t need ID to vote in Canada. You have other options although like 99% take the ID route because its faster.

I've seen it happen both as a poll clerk and a voter. Actually last night the person next to me was in the process of being vouched by someone else.

Also until we get ranked voting you will never truly have a legitimate 3rd party option, let alone any chance at a 4th or 5th party. Most national leadership conventions understand this and go with ranked voting for their leaders. Not the GOP though (or democrats) which is honestly the biggest reason Trump got in. Had they used rank voting no way he would have made it through the field of a dozen candidates.

Not a fan of proportional representation because it takes away from districts being able to elect their own local representative and the 10% of the population that is fucking nutz shouldnt have representation anyways...

I'm also a firm believer that lower turnout typically reflects a more intelligent and informed electorate. If people don;t wanna take the time to vote or understand the policies they are voting for its better off they don;t take part in the voting process.

Yeah, kid it front of me had to have his grandfather vouch for him while poor old me was blocked because I was out of my province and didn't have a document proving I was renting here.

Normally the US works about the same, before the voter ID law in TX all you needed was the voter card that came in the mail, now you don’t need that, just a photo ID. You can also vote by mail or vote early a few weeks before the election. This past election you could drive through vote in your car due to Covid, how that is a secret ballot when two people are voting in the car at the same time I’ll never know.

The GOP decided that car voting is technically not allowed due the state constitution and have been accused of trying to make voting too hard.
