I hated Spiders on basic principle that you don’t cave to a non-existent problem. Getting rid of Chief Wahoo appropriate, this is silliness. That said, pretty much everyone here agrees with you on Spiders and would have loved it, and hated this. Not shockingly they picked the worst of all options I heard floated.
Yeah I agree with that first part. I've said, since this process started, that I imagine it doesn't matter what name they pick. Our generation of baseball fans (and especially CLE locals) will still refer to them in conversation as "the tribe". Despite most people thinking I’m always on permanent vacation, I’m actually involved with a few lines of business that have me calling around the country. One has me occasionally calling institutions that involve Native Americans in the SW. They call their own institutions Indian whatever. Schools. Business groups. This is just a retroactive penalty for having a racist mascot for decades and nothing to do with name itself.
What does that even mean? Guardians of what?
