California still has a lot of mandated restrictions until June 15, despite the CDC guidance against these restrictions coming a month earlier than that.

Not sure what you consider "normal", though. I can't even go to a freakin' Dodgers game without paying 100000000x the normal prices because there are so few seats of two being sold (due to both COVID capacity reductions and the restriction of not allowing a group of 4 seats to be split).
I live in LA County which is still completely masked up. However, the accounting firm we do our taxes with is located in Huntington Beach, and it definitely was a little bit of a culture shock to see that about 50% of the people weren't wearing masks at all. This included in the accounting building, which was part of a big business park, and when I ran to 7-11 to get some coffee.

shit, you're talking about a Huntington Beach that elected Tito Ortiz to office by a historic margin last year. That's the same Tito Ortiz who resigned today because he's dumber than rocks, didn't want to actually do his job, and can't complete a single, grammatically complete/correct sentence to save his life, to name a very small amount of the many, many complaints about him....

Almost no masks where I live in SoCal, everything is open and tourist season is in full effect. Went to a couple tourist attractions yesterday and there were tons of people there and then went to bar for lunch. Felt pretty normal. Really don't know what Druff is talking about.

I didn't say that there aren't people out, and that things aren't open.

There are tons of restrictions still in place.

I already mentioned the Dodgers one (which is in place at every stadium in California).

Also restrictions at amusement parks, card rooms, restaurants, and tons of other businesses. This will end on June 15 in most counties, but things aren't "back to normal".

I can't even have a fucking water bottle sitting next to me at Commerce.

Yeah I don't know what you're dealing with. It sounds night and day different from what we are seeing. Here now and pre-pandemic are pretty much the same other than seeing some masks in crowded indoor spots.

In order to push through their massive spending bills, they had to make COVID look like a continued crisis, and thus had to put forth the messaging that we'd be masking and distancing for a very long time. This left a lot of people on the fence asking themselves, "Why bother?" regarding getting it.

After the extreme pressure to change course, the CDC did the about-face in mid-May regarding their masking recommendations, and all of a sudden there was renewed interest in getting the vaccine.

Of course, the right had plenty of a hand in vaccine hesitancy, but Biden did the situation no favors.

The vaccine hesitancy comes from five places:

    1) Young people who figure they don't need it

    2) Minorities who are distrusting of it

    3) Right wingers who are distrusting of it

    4) On-the-fence people convinced by Democrats/media that not much changes for you if you get it, so why bother?

    5) People misled by Dems/media into believing that masking and distancing keeps you safe, so you can just do that in place of the vaccine

Anecdotally, I know people in all five groups.

Group #5 is arguably the most tilting, because these are people who want to be responsible, but have been misled by the media for a year that masking/distancing is the gold standard of safety, and they really believe that they can stay safe while waiting awhile to see if the vaccine is safe. "I am still scared of the vaccine, but I wear a mask, sanitize my hands, and keep 6 feet away when I go out, so I'm not going to catch COVID!"
lol this is amazing. you know we had 2300 cases of flu last year? Social distancing and wearing a mask isn't the gold standard of safety but if applied correctly it greatly reduces risk. The problem was half of the country decided fuck science and did not wear a mask at all

but yeah masks dont work man rabble rabble rabble

Druff, masks reduce risk. They are far from foolproof. Are you saying that masks don't reduce risk at all?
