    Nice you just won!

I feel sick after losing a bit bet on Petr Yan. He was dominating. I have no idea why he made that mistake. Possibly the dumbest decision I have ever seen! He could have finished Sterling, if not, would have won a decision easily. Wow

Look at this Jake Paul / Ben Askren match.

How is Askren the underdog here? Am I missing something?

    https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/new...omplete-guide/

I realize Askren retired 2 years ago and is 36, while Paul is 24, but you'd have to think he'd be the favorite to win this. Is Paul just being pumped up by YouTube fanboys?

If it was an mma fight, Askren would embarrass him thoroughly, but it isn't, it's a boxing match, and the boxer will almost always beat the MMA fighter (even elite mma fighters) in boxing, just as the mma fighter will always beat the boxer (even elite boxers) in mma rules. Askren has rudimentary at best punching skill and no boxing fundamentals to speak of. Bigger, younger, boxing-trained guy vs wrestler with bad hips who has never boxed before, & isn't afraid to take a fight he can easily lose for a decent paycheck. The wrestling skills of Askren go out the window, and without that, he's left with very little to work with.

The entire reason for this fight is that Jake Paul gets to finally say he's fighting a real fighter, so chose the biggest name with the least punching skills he could find. Askren could easily win a very ugly fight, but is a ref gonna allow that to happen, let Askren manhandle Paul and wear him out? Probably not. If they aren't allowed to dirty box and clinch at all, Paul should be able to handle Askren pretty easy.

Wouldn;t be too surprising to see Askren get dq'd, either, if he can;t win a boxing match, he may just toss the guy around a few times, prove he's the better fighter while losing, and still take home the biggest payday of his life.

Great value on Ben Askren. Jake Paul has fought a bunch of scrub you tubers and a short NBA player with no experience . He claims to have 3 pro fights, all were against scrubs, the 3 worst “pro” boxers in world history.

Paul does seem to have legit power but Ben Askren is a very seasoned fighter. Have you seen his fights? He can take a punch. Can Jake Paul knock him out early? Maybe, but that’s his path to victory.

I can see Ben Askren grinding out a sloppy fight. Can Jake Paul eat upper cuts in the clinch? Handle his ribs being beat up in the clinch? Have the endurance to box for more than a few rounds?

Exciting fight bc the unknowns but I’ll be on Ben Askren counting on experience and taking plus money in a weird match up

Pretty much agree with all of this.

It's pretty wild to think that a YouTuber is favored over a guy that's fought at an elite level for years. Even with his limited stand up ability, Askren's fighter IQ should be able to win the damn fight. He's smaller but it stands to reason he'll be strong in the clinch and when they're fighting in close. I wouldn't be surprised to see him just stay in Paul's chest and wear him down with rough shit.

I think people are gassed up because of the Masvidal thing, and believing that getting KO'd by a knee means that Askren can't take a punch.

Paul hasn't been in there with anyone at all. Another YouTube guy and a small basketball player. And aside from landing a power shot he didn't look polished at all. He looks as he should, like he just started boxing. So he can beat other guys who just started, too. But we're talking about a life long fighter here. There's no reason Askren shouldn't rag doll the mother fucker. But that's why they fight, I guess. Power is the great equalizer, so I guess we'll see.

What is this event? I am watching UFC but have a stream up on my computer. It’s been a rap concert and weird slap competition. Not a real boxing event.

ALERT: this main event might be “fixed”... Askren has been clear he doesn’t care that much about winning, Jake Paul cares a lot. Askren biggest career payday, may be happy to “lose” and sail off into the sunset with a million more dollars to retire on.

Winning this is the key to more “money” fights for Jake Paul. Beat Ben and then he can fight a more legit and famous UFC fighter.

Who knows? Combat sports are all about hype trains, some are real some are fake and quickly derailed. Some are built up from fighting cans or even fixing fights and some earn it the hard way.

Will tune back in for main event but the production seems to be brutal so far. UFC not so great tonight but won a nice bet on GM3 as a slight dog. Just got lucky on Pena as well, I took him, he won but honestly felt he lost 2 rounds I’ll take it though

    And that’s why they fight.

    Stoppage was lame but whatever.

    Entire spectacle was fucking awful.

Good news is that McGregor vs Paul might be a real thing now. Odds should be close and Conor is light years ahead of him regardless of size.

I think I pretty much nailed that one. Fight wasn't thrown, the officiating was always gonna be Paul-centric if it came to it, and Askren in a ring was going to be lolworthy and ugly at best.
