So I was left with the unpalatable choice of possibly harming someone who I had long considered a friend (and was very good to PFA over the years), or allowing a pretty obnoxious lie be perpetrated upon the forum.

CMONEY…
- Bragged about charging back online poker sites, bragged about rolling people.
- Literally started a thread asking users to find someone on another messageboards identity.
- Literally bragged about ripping off neverheeb.
- Neverheeb called into radio threatening cmoney using his real name Colton
- The neverheeb matter may have actually gotten settled?
- Brandon Drexel bragged about cmoney buying a car and then keeping it at his house?
- I am not a proper historian so probably missing things. 3d porn??
- He also got admin access to nwp.



BUT a few years ago he did stake a bunch of people in the WSOP so because he made it rain it was easier to not think anything nefarious. I don’t know anything about any staking or money arrangements between druff and cmoney or how much has been exchanged over the years. I do know that (in my opinion of course) CMONEY has always had questionable ethics. The whole cancer/death thing was a culmination from a career scammer.

Maybe chinamaniac has a better take but for now... CMONEY wins, SFO suckers!

Yes, the cancer thing was the entire part of what I explained in my last post above. As I said, it's all in the threads about the matter from 2018, and I deleted none of it. There's no point for "revisionist history" because people can go back and read it whenever they want.

Cmoney first was asking my advice for what to do about real-life harassment he was receiving, related to the forum. I gave him some advice. At no time did he tell me he was going to fake cancer.

Then he posted that he had cancer, and right after that, texted me and explained that he did it in order to pretty much write an exit story for himself. I wasn't happy with this and wouldn't have allowed it, had he asked me beforehand. That's presumably why he did it without asking me.

He then asked me to not call it out as BS, telling me that there would be tremendous fallout for such a thing, and the person or people harassing him would feel emboldened to fuck with him even more. As annoyed as I was about this, I decided not to interfere, as calling it out would do more damage than him just quietly leaving the site to "fight skin cancer". At the same time, I was not going to lie to anyone. I just didn't comment on it, which should have spoken volumes. Under no circumstances was I going to back this, and I told him that.

Then he stepped it up to the death thing (again, without my knowledge), and at the absolute worst time when I had the sudden and crippling mental health issues in August of that year. That part I knew required a response and I couldn't just sit by and say nothing. However, I had to figure out the best way to do it, and I had to figure out exactly what to say/do. I definitely wasn't going to lie about this either, so I was trying to figure out what to do, and he revealed it on his own anyway.

As I said, not a simple situation or decision whatsoever, given everything going on, and his longstanding generosity to the radio freerolls and buyins for other members to WSOP events.

Some people cited that I said nothing because he bought a large piece of a $10k event I played that year. However, the WSOP packages always sell out, so I would have had those pieces sold either way -- just not to him. Feel free to check the sales of my past WSOP packages, if you don't believe this.

The situation was unfortunately a blight on PFA history, and I regret that it happened. There's nothing more I can say.

It’s accurate though. He clearly was around. I’ve said this often when talking about the old days. If you were a charismatic scammer, we still wanted you around. I won’t start naming names, but many of our favorite posters rolled someone at some point.

That was just the feel of the place. Obviously that presents more problems on a site that’s fraud based.

I mean I recall Cmoney rolling heeb and negotiating some payback with him when he had money and Heeb didn’t. Who knows? Given heebs proclivities at the time, maybe it saved his life, but that wasn’t the purpose.

I mean there was little doubt that people got rolled amongst those video game nerds in Portland. We just found it all amusing back then. It wasn’t a fraud site. It was a degen site of much younger people.

I don’t really blame Druff for cmoney because he was trying to thread the needle of keeping the spirit of the old site while at the same time do his own thing here. That Drexel and China were such an integral part of the site, and many of our favorite posters, and personal friends with cmoney, and that cmoney was generous here, it was even trickier. Had you had a poll eve after cmoney faked his death if we still wanted him around, it would have been yes. I hated to see Drexel and China step away. In the big scheme of things, who gives a fuck? Those are entertaining characters.

It’s the gambling world. I miss the cmoney and PeterDC era. I mean, if you knew what was up, you always knew you were dealing with interesting guys, but not paragons of virtue. Cmoney wasnt peterdc. Peter was a unique sociopath. First half and over. Funny shit.

None of this shit is relevant to why site isn’t very good now. Site isn’t great now because most posters are for lack of a better description...boring and stupid. Same memes and comments repetitively. You open a thread and its a TDS and a Jesse and no real conversation. Desert runner brought some shitty Facebook right wing vibe at the absolute worst time imaginable. He just hastened the decline. It has been heading that way for awhile. Just clicking on some user and looking back at 2012 is sad, and that was already five-seven years past the heyday.

Hopefully it rebounds. Doubtful. This feels like an old marriage where it’s best to split amicable and remember the good shit imo.

None of the NWP-spawned communities have remained active as long as PFA. Even NWP itself only lasted 5.5 years. Donkdown only a little more than 2 before it became a ghost town.

Poker itself has declined big time since the mid-2000s. Forums have also declined big time. Look at what has happened to 2+2. Sometimes their NVG gets fewer posts than PFA's Flying Stupidity on a given day. Never thought I'd see that.

Things happen over time. People move on for different reasons. There's also the balance between activity and quality. People who lurk don't contribute. Similarly, an old-time "good" poster from NWP who shows up 5 times per year to post isn't contributing much. I like seeing them back, but the site isn't going to last if it's only people like that. There needs to be a constant stream of new content for people to keep checking the site. Balancing activity with quality is always a challenge. Ideally you get both, but in reality it's a mixed bag.

The good thing about PFA is that it's a mixture of old-school NWPers and new people who drift in through the radio show and other feeders. That's what makes PFA different from the other spinoff sites. We get fresh blood. Sometimes the posters are good right off the bat (JeffDime comes to mind), and sometimes they're not, but at least it's a slow stream of new people. That's a lot of what keeps the site from withering away and dying.

This place won't last forever. We get out of it what the users put into it. I can contribute content myself, and I do, but for the most part, the community will live as long as the users want to post here.

Couple thoughts....

Loved BCR’s post. He was pretty lucid tonight. “Paragons of virtue”. I skimmed this thread and saw Lurker mentioned. Why is he a topic now? He was a great character and a fun read. Larry the messenger, sparten, fantastic characters. Did sparten really smoke crack? Who cares?

People haven’t been leaving because of apathy. I wouldn’t characterize membership as “drifting in and out”. That’s not honest.

In fact, I detect there have been threats and the like. Druff doesn’t share all the details and that’s fine. You can feel enormous frustration. That’s new.

One of the great characters and posters was Sonatine. I logged in every day for years to read him. It was his site in many ways. He contributed a great deal in huge volume. You guys are now glad he’s gone and that’s fine. It all worked out.

Yes, I followed him to his other site. I’d read his Twitter. I might even sign up for Facebook after some soul searching to read him. Thank god that’s not yet necessary.

Agree. I know he’s got his mind on his money and his money on his mind, and Druff would like him here, but not if they’re going to butt heads. I’m really lazy and miss reading him here and have lurked at places that shall not be named, but I haven’t made an account with the hope that all those guys just eventually drift back once things cool down. I get it for all parties involved, but dysfunctional families are still family.

im seeing a lot of weird takes in this thread but i want to make some things clear because why not;

i didnt 'quit' pfa. the fight/flight vibe here is just really fucking dangerous imo. its safer for me to not engage in it. druff absolutely did not overstep any boundaries, i didnt take anything he did personally. hes running his house as he sees fit, of course i respect that. if we are being honest, i was confronted with a choice here; i could escalate a situation with someone not mentally equipped to really comprehend the potential downsides of their behavior, or i could walk away. and i totally chose to escalate. and i legit felt awful about that, and i apologized to druff for it, and that apology was sincere.

honestly its just better for everyone if i post over there. there are literally zero fight/flight situations over there. we post paul thomas anderson soundtrack clips and swap takes on whats worth streaming on amazon prime and try to get rich off the stock market. honestly its fucking great. and btw speaking of which if you havent seen kilgore's picks lately, you should, holy shit.

everyone deserves to post where they feel comfortable. if i show up here one day and see people commenting on king crimson's influence on radiohead, ill have a lot to contribute here as well.
