Cutting out all the partisan narratives what does this actually mean in the real world? How are things going to change for better/worse for everyday Americans because of this?
Any predictions? I actually have no clue.

Higher taxes
More identity politics
More regulations
College loan forgiveness
Expanded government
"Public option" in healthcare which is essentially just a stepping stone to full-on socialized medicine
The Senate will be a 50/50 split, but because of the VP Tie-Breaker Chuck Schumer will be Majority Leader. The Majority Leader runs the Senate in just about every way. You saw that with Mitch McConnell not even allowing a vote on the 2K checks. He controls the schedule, votes, if there will be amendments allowed on the floor & just about everything. The Senate committees will now be chaired by Democrats. The Presiding officer, who is typically a rotation of junior members of the majority party will always be a Democrat.
Judicial appointments, cabinet confirmations and other business is no longer subject to a 60 vote threshold. It used to take 60 votes to get almost anything done in the Senate. 60 votes invokes cloture (The end of debate and eventually a vote on the issue before the senate). Individual Senators have power and the minority has a lot more power than the House for sure, but at the end of the day the majority party in the Senate runs the joint.
This means that for the most part this means the Dems will get most of their shit through one way or another. Not having the Senate in Republican hands is a huge roadblock that now is not an issue. It means you can expect more of the Democratic agenda to become law with far less Republican input.
It means for once since the Obama administration, the Democrats can actually get shit done.
Mitch McConnell no longer has any power.
It's over Republican shitheads, you have been defeated.
traditionally the market tanks a bit when the same party holds both house and senate.
not sure why.
but that could create some ripples vis a vis taxes and interest rates.
the x factor there i suppose is QE, and we will have to see how queen yellin chooses to crack that nut moving forward.

"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
I am not sure what you mean by this, Obama had the Senate as well for a while if I recall and they... they... ?
For me the most interesting thing will be if Dem's actually pass into law that which they have run on for 4 years now. The truth is the Obama admin. would not have and did not do most of what they are cheering for today. And if they did, he didn't get it done.
Trump did more for conservatives in 4 years than Obama did for Dems, its just the truth.
Time will tell but unless law enforcement starts killing/jailing less black men, socialized medicine, free tuition and a 51st State happen, they failed.
Obama could have tackled all those issues but didn't, huh.
You're forgetting about the most powerful man in the United States govt. as of this morning. His name is Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, the last of the "Blue Dog " Democrats. He has already said he will not vote for Socialistic policies. If he is a NO vote, Biden doesn't get his legislation through. Biden already is probably getting some hookers, er I mean Lobbyists to try and convince him on his agenda.
It means we're all gonna suck tranny dick and we're all gonna like it. I for one welcome our new homosexual overlords.

I was going to open a thread that asked the same question a slightly different way.
As a rule of thumb when a party has a supermajority they jam through something that is at the top of the list for them that they normally would not. With Obama it was the ACA. Trump it was the tax reform. You tend to use a lot of “political capital” when you pull something like this and the first midterms tend to go bad if you go to far, as both Obama and Trump Both found out.
What will be “that item” for Biden?
My take is if the right of a woman to choose is truly so God Damned important to the left and we are all so so so worried that Roe V Wade is in danger..... then shouldnt priority 1 be a national Abortion Law?
I posted this yesterday in another thread, copying here.
Just add in that Biden can appoint whatever federal judges he wants. He'll likely replace Breyer and if there's a god Thomas will die so Biden can replace him.
They'll repeal Trump's tax cuts for people making over a certain amount of income. At least 6 figures.
I'd love to see DC and PR admitted as states but I don't think they have the balls to do that.
