miami is a top 3 city in the country it feels like ur in a different country
im not proud of this exactly but quite often i find myself going down youtube rabbitholes of people who live in miami going fishing on their pleasant little boats and catching like mahi mahi and lobster and then cooking and eating them and deep down in a place i generally refuse to admit exists im seething with envy.

I must admit 7 mile bridge gets to me.
Chappaquiddick
negatives: extinction event weather every fuckin year, absolutely horrible people, humidity, mosquitos, arguably the worst drivers in america...
positives: spanish moss, cuban steak houses, the freshest seafood, sea front house with dock for less than 1m, 2 hour sail to bahamas, 1 hour drive to airport...
i mean yeah its a mixed bag, but not without its charms.

I forgot you like to fish. So hell yeah. Positives definitely outweigh the risk of death by hurricanes, malaria or DUI Garretts.
If you ever do move there pretty please go to mullet toss and do a trip report. I went awhile back and it was a ridiculous amount of fun.

The SoFla residents point of view...
Negatives: Gringos visit here from the Northeast and tell us how we should be running things like they are back home. No change of seasons (no leaves turning color, etc.). Can't leave shit in your car from April to December (it will melt or spoil). No decent Chinese food.
Positives: We can wear shorts all year round. Great Cuban, Argentinian and Colombian food. Lots of local road and trail races year round (in normal times). Low Taxes. It's actually written in the Florida Constitution that there is No income tax (takes Supermajority to amend). No socialist politicians - they all got trounced in the election. We are the gateway to the Caribbean with 2 sea ports and 2 major airports 45 minutes apart. The flight from FLL to Nassau is 37 minutes on Jet Blue. A flight to Cancun is less than 2 hours from MIA.
