Maybe it's just time to admit that nobody had experience with something like this, and any mistakes made by Trump would have been made by a Democrat in office. There really are idiots on the left who believe we'd have significantly fewer deaths if a Democrat had been President. No evidence, no science to back it up, no explanation why Europe got it just as bad -- just stupid statements blaming Trump.

The Europe that got it just as bad has less than 50% of your deaths per capita. That's the Europe with Russia and handful of other countries that weren't too fond of.

like when people talk about influence campaigns, what people with direct knowledge of those tactics understand is that the goal is to create a state of artificial emotional fertility for circumstances you desire.

so when COINTELPRO went after the black panthers / civil rights movement etc, they would make sure everyone involved was as angry as possible then make sure opportunities arose for all those emotions to spill out as violence. and i dont know whose doing it on the left right now but its happening and its working.

and (god help me) joe rogan has perfectly encapsulated why its a fucking nightmare scenario, because all these 'operators' in michigan etc are being fed the same diet of artificially hot takes and trump stalling on conceding so he can pay off his campaign debts could be lit match here.

Maybe this is part of what you are already saying, but I think the biggest concern is that all the left wing agitation is going to move everyone else right, and increase the risk of another right wing demagogue bad actor gaining power. At the end of the day all the left wing violence in places like Philly, NYC and Portland isn't going to move the needle much on its own. But it provides fodder for the right.

Trump losing IMO is a referendum on him personally and his numerous failings. But if all this left wing agitation continues, I would predict the right quickly regains power, with the potential for another bad faith actor taking control and making things bad again.
