I do love the excuse, "DA DEMOCRATS DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TRUMP KNEW SO THEY COULDN'T HAVE KNOWN DA RIGHT THING TO DO!!!!!11"

    Uh huh.

Not only is that BS, but even I knew enough in late January to quit going to Commerce because I didn't want to get this thing. And that was before a single verified (at the time) US death had occurred.

So somehow I knew it wasn't safe to play at Commerce, but the highest ranking Democrats had absolutely no idea what to do because Trump was keeping it a secret from them, or something.

    Interesting.

Maybe it's just time to admit that nobody had experience with something like this, and any mistakes made by Trump would have been made by a Democrat in office. There really are idiots on the left who believe we'd have significantly fewer deaths if a Democrat had been President. No evidence, no science to back it up, no explanation why Europe got it just as bad -- just stupid statements blaming Trump.

FYI, I'll tell you in advance that I'm not going to blame Biden for COVID continuing unless he makes tangible mistakes which I can factually point out. Would be nice if the whiny left could do the same for Trump, but I know that's asking way too much.

The Europe that got it just as bad has less than 50% of your deaths per capita. That's the Europe with Russia and handful of other countries that weren't too fond of.

    But most importantly.
We didnt elect a fucking moron to burn our proud nation to the ground, in a pandemic there is no left or right.
So what did Trump do wrong again?

The US left keeps saying that he didn't lead by example with the masking, yet your country didn't mask, and somehow it turned out much better than most countries -- at least so far.

So apparently the masks aren't the huge difference maker, huh?

Still looking to hear what "moron" Trump should have done differently, which Democrats wanted him to do but he refused.

    Tough question, I know.
what a way to promote social distancing, would a democrat do this?

Spain and Belgium have had more deaths per capita than the US.

UK, Italy, France have all had comparable death rates to the US, and soon France/Italy will pass the US because they have it worse right now.

This is a new virus which is nothing like anything we've faced in the past 100 years. It's no surprise that we are learning as we go, and it's absurd to blame Trump for the deaths without any tangible claims as to why he's to blame.

Do you always fail at logic or is it just today?

When you compare US with Europe you compare one whole nation with one whole continent.

Or i can just start picking states, counties or random city blocks to compare with whatever the fuck i want.

Up here in Canada I'm hearing almost nothing but relief that Biden was elected.

I know exactly two people who are disappointed. One is a guy I grew up with who is now a roughneck in the Alberta oil fields. Understandably, they tend to be Trump supporters. Alberta is basically Canada's Texas. Interestingly, the other person is a friend on my beer league hockey team who is American (moved here in 2018). He's about 45 and has lived mostly in Minnesota and then southern California. He's not a registered Republican but he voted Trump.

He's very surprised Trump lost. Here are his exact words before the election (from a text):

All indications on the ground (voter registration trends, enthusiasm, youth vote not turning out, high working class turnout, higher than 2016 minority job approvals, 3Q GDP results, etc.) favor Trump. Biden is a problem too. This isn't 2008 where there was record voter turnout for Obama. This is a senile old man who has been a politician for nearly five decades. In the USA, people hate that shit. That's one of the many reasons Hillary lost. She's tied to a political family/machine. The other element is people in the USA distrust the media more than any time in history. The media is so anti-Trump that he actually benefits from it. Two years of Russia collusion and nothing came out of a special investigation. At least when they did it to Bill Clinton for Whitewater, they got some dirt with Lewinsky.
It was helpful for me to understand his reasons for voting Trump because frankly, most of us in Canada (at least on the east coast and in the circles I run in) cannot fathom why anyone would vote Trump. There is such a consensus here that he's a horrible president who is disgracing your country. But many in the U.S. appear to lean into it, becoming a caricature of the jingoistic American. Over the past four years, I traveled to the U.S. maybe 6 times and one thing I noticed was that I would see many instances of people proudly wearing Trump apparel as regular clothing. Of course, you have the MAGA hats. But some people take it to the next level - for example, in Vegas I would see several people wearing generic USA football and basketball jerseys with "Trump 45" on the back. As a Canadian, frankly I find that shit embarrassing. I don't recall seeing it with Bush or Clinton. There was a little bit of that with Obama and the "Hope" shirts. But nothing like with the Trump stuff. Even the biggest fans of our PM wouldn't wear a fucking "Trudeau" hockey jersey. You would be a laughing stock.

Obviously, that's all anecdotal and it's only highlighting the extremes, but look at this poll:

84% of Canadians would have voted for Biden. Even a majority of members of the Conservative party (59%) would have voted for Biden.

In any event, sorry to the Trump supporters who lost. Long term, I think this will benefit the Republican Party. And you won't have to continue rationalizing and apologizing for the boorish behaviour of an "insane person" (Adamantium, 2020) in the White House.

Biden and friends say that all we have to do is have the President set a great example and we will mask our way out of the COVID mess.

I'll give you the same question I give everyone else who tries to blame Trump for the COVID deaths:

What did Biden and other prominent Democrats want to do regarding COVID early on, which Trump refused to do, and which would have saved a lot of lives?

Nobody can answer that, because the true answer is NOTHING.
    Here is what we did.
Those who can/are allowed works from home.
4 feet distance from others in stores and what have you.
    Sanitizing spray everywhere.
    No resturants
    No bars
    No traveling
The United States did all this by March. When did you guys have all these precautions in place?

This is one place where you can look at general social distancing and mask usage, just change the country...

    https://covid19.healthdata.org/unite...-use&tab=trend

...if you look at just those 2 things and adjust for different seasonal patterns (you're 2-4 weeks "late" of Europe) nothing worth mentioning pops up, but...

...it's not really how this thing works. National data is fuckall when this thing pops up in different frequencies in different parts of the nation. Super spreader events are a real thing and there's a clear point where you can significantly slow it vs just damage control. Testing a lot is thing that matters. Being behind in testing by six weeks will fuck you up. There's no containing it at that point.

When 90% of the country doesn't have a single case what the fuck are masks and/or social distancing going to do in that portion of the country. Control of all travel (other countries and interstate) and testing to tell you when you need quarantine/distancing/masks is all that's effective.
