If Dems controlled the White House when RGB died and Mitch didn't declare Obamas nomination 'Null and Void' because it was an election year, I don't think they would have. They have some degree of political protection because of Garland.
That's Mitch playing politics, the voters gave him the power to make that decision. All politicians do it. If it only bothers you when one side does it that's silly.

I'm going through some Texas voter data, and it's pretty insane that some counties have already received more votes than the TOTAL number of votes in 2016. So I looked at Harris county (Houston) and learned some new things. They have drive-through voting locations, which I have never heard of. And they also have 24/7 voting locations, which I have definitely never heard of.

So if you live in Houston you can go in person and cast your vote at 3am tonight. Wild.

Too dangerous. McCain and Hatch had actually suggested Garland and might have voted to confirm, which would have given him enough votes.
My favorite, if we had more like him the world would be a better place.

If the will of the people made the decisions, Gore and Hillary would have been president. The Senate and the EC make it so that the will of certain people is far more important than the will of others.

The EC exists so all states have a say instead of a couple highly populated states always deciding the fate of the country. You take away the EC and New York and California will decide every single president. In 2016, if you take away the California landside I believe Trump got more votes in the other 49 states combined (not 100% sure).
A couple of highly populated states always decide the presidency. It's just not necessarily the very top of the list. This year it's FL and PA, the 3rd and 6th largest states. In recent years it's been FL and OH. Soon it will be GA and AZ which is poised to become one of the largest states.

There's campaigning in half a dozen states, and the message is tailored to a small segment in each state. All the rest of them, large and small, are ignored. There are millions of Republicans in California and no get out the vote operation for them, nobody listening to their concerns. Likewise millions of Democrats in the deep south.

They both bother me. The speakers of both lines eventually had to accommodate reality and make choices that broke their promises/made their statements seem like lies depending on how you look at it. It would have been better for both of them to be honest and give more detail from the beginning. Americans don't do nuance well.

disregard what im about to say if im wrong about procedural shit in congress...

think it was on the hill, but thought they said that the dems could have held up this whole nomination process of ACB...if that's the case then the dems absolutely shit the bed on this one...it wasnt like they had to hold anything up for months, it was a few weeks...so again if they could have held this up then them skipping out on the vote and jawing about ACB's confirmation is all grand political theatre at it's finest...and every single last one of them should be voted out of office if they could have stopped the confirmation from happening before the election because they obviously ain't doing their jobs and are on the take from somebody with deep pockets...

EDIT: @OSA...i know...i was under the impression that these people were just humble public servants here to do good for their constituents...i might need to take another look at that view...

There's nothing the Democrats could have done to stop her from being confirmed.

That Racist red state of Texas making it so hard to vote.

Oops...I meant easy to vote, I can go early vote at any poll in my county, literally took 10 minutes to drive to the poll, vote and drive back home.

Does OSA even understand what he's reading? He didn't want ACB confirmed?

You mean the court packing by hypocritical Republicans? They'll regret that.
That isn’t court packing. Hypocritical, yes....court packing, nope.

If Trump jammed through 5 more justices, that would be court packing....and insane.

Biden doesn't need to pack the courts. Just make PR and DC a state and give citizenship to every illegal immigrant and you won't lose a presidential election again.

That is why the two party system sucks, even if they did make PR and DC states...the republicans will just blame anything negative on the Dems (see Covid this year), if the economy sucks bad enough, people will boot out whomever is in charge...then rinse and repeat. The two partie basically take turns in power and blaming each other.

Happens all the time in midterms and sometimes in the Prez election

Just stop, Republicans did nothing wrong. If the Dems had the Senate and the White House they would have done the exact same thing.

After announcing the exact opposite as a "principle" just 4 years ago, and 9 months before the election instead of 6 weeks before.

    Pure hypocrisy and nothing but.

Something IS going to be done about the Court. We are not going to allow them to turn America into a third world country, as much as they're trying.

The real question is which event will cause more death?

The picture on the left or the picture on the right?

Honestly might end up being the event on the right
