A great scene from “On The Beach”, in which Ava Gardner’s character, a self-described “town drunk”, is being helped back onto the boat she just intentionally capsized in order to get some attention from Gregory Peck’s character, the duty-bound still-married-in-his-mind American navy sub commander, whom she is trying to seduce.
And Fred Astaire’s character, a spectator of the boat race on shore says a great line while watching them through binoculars...
He says “It’s like a French movie!”
