The US is a nightmare society. It claims not to have 'class', but it's got a worse case of class than any European country, more akin to the caste system in India. You're from the right side of the tracks or you're not. You went to the right college or you didn't. You've got the right kind of regular employment to afford health insurance or you haven't. (And even then you've got no maternity rights or employment rights of the kind universally recognised in Europe.)
And the healthcare system is the worst in the developed world and costs twice as much per head per annum as the normal European system.
And the political 'opposition' is the worst in the developed world as well. No serious moves for universal healthcare, or sane firearms laws, or any kind of human rights beyond the minimum granted by the Constitution (which the politically appointed Supreme Court likes to interpret in favour of the rich and powerful, quelle surprise). So there's just posturing, and pronouns, and recreational rioting and looting, all of which is likely to give Trump and his cronies another four years to muck about. The ignorant myth of exceptionalism does have a certain amount to answer for.
During the night, Trump tweeted 89 times. The content of the tweets were conspiracy theories about the Portland riots, jumping on tweets that claimed the riots were part of a coup to unseat him. He also decided to put his rubber-stamp of likes on the following: "Kyle Rittenhouse is a good example of why I decided to vote for Trump".
He also tweeted / reposted that the "true death toll" of the Corona virus in the US is 9000, not 182,000.
