Same thing with the Lincoln Project.
It's so obvious regarding the ads they put out. There are some legitimate criticisms that anti-Trump Repubicans can make against him, while not invalidating their own political views. These ads rarely display those. Instead, they play exactly like you'd expect a Democratic attack ad to play. For example, how many Republicans today would describe America as a racist police state? Very few. That's a popular position on the left, but almost no Republicans believe that.
In general, people aren't good at expressing criticism from others' points of view, and coming off as sincere. Their own biases always get in the way.
No Republican is going to watch that ad and think to themselves, "Wow, under Trump we DO live in a racist police state! Better vote for Biden!"
Laughable.
I won't deny that these ads are effective, though. If Democrats can portray that even Trump's own party is abandoning him, they're much more likely to get swing votes and even some crossover Republican votes from people who don't want to be on a sinking ship. That's the real point of these ads. They're just really dishonest in what they purport to be.
