I think he has been profitable for a year or so and has just faded the variance of Martingale biting him in the ass. My final hypothesis- He believes in these systems. He wants there to be systems & strategies that work so badly that he is blinded to what a wretched human being Christopher Mitchell is. I was being a bit hyperbolic. It seems like collectively at least 35K plus was lost. The fact he got the room at Venetian makes it pretty clear that at least a decent portion of that money was lost there.

Christopher Mitchell seems like a low-rent career scammer, who is interesting mostly because he's so ridiculous. (I will admit it gets much less funny when you see his actual victims in the videos, though.)
Morgenstern seems like a straight up violent criminal, and while I only know the story from Kevin's description, it appears he incorporated (credible-sounding) threats of violence into his routine. CM just seems like a bumbling dope who never comes off as threatening.
