everyone wants real time picks. Lot of what I do is feel. I see something I hit it and it may not be right a few minutes later. I often have very little conviction and don’t like holding stuff. I may bail 3 seconds later. A lot of my stuff is marginally +EV at the time. I’ll try to contribute some longer term picks.

Bought some SPY puts at 308 and sold at 302. Missed the bottom twice because I was busy doing other stuff. What can you do?

I was looking up TD Ameritrade's Day Trading rules and I am trying to unpack this:

How Many Day Trades Does TD Ameritrade Allow
FINRA defines a day trade as any position that is bought and sold (or sold and bought) on the same day in your account. A pattern day trader is defined as anyone who places four or more day trades in their margin account over any rolling 5-business day period.

PDT rule does not apply to cash accounts. Therefore, TD Ameritrade allows unlimited number of day trades on cash accounts.

On margin account with under $25,000 balance you are allowed 3 day trades within 5 trading days period. On margin account with over $25,000 balance you are allowed unlimited number of day trades.

So, I guess what I have now is a cash account, which means if I sell a stock I have to wait 3 days before I have the $$, but I can do as much day trading as I want under these rules.

If I make my account margin so I have the $$ immediately, I need to get my balance over $25,000, or I will be restricted in how many day trades I can do.

Is this correct?

FWIW, I guess Robinhood is margin account by default?? I did a couple day trades on my wife's RH account, and they told me I can't do any more until 6/18.

honestly it might have been a glitch in my black scholes fu. im going to have to actually backtest.


tl;dr i think you can use otm options to make risk neutral plays here where the return on an S&P500 over = n(1) or S&P500 doesnt fade the over = n(1.1) where n is the cost of investments essentially and the theoretical profit is either 0 or about 10% to infinity but again, the math generated by the tool im using feels suspect.
