I told him he is playing his cards and not the situation. He tells me because he lives a block from Central Park, in the UWS, people aren't struggling to make ends meet and are actually moving in the neighborhood.

I know several apartments that will be empty the end of this month.

Are you selling to tech or medical? Virtual sales has got to be the new order. It’s almost a customer courtesy I would think. I sure as shit don’t want to see some random.

SaaS accounting software. Has been the worst 2 months sales wise of my entire career, being at Yelp in 2014 is the only thing that comes close.

Been in a reflective mood. I live in the bloody worst area of the pandemic and it’s kinda getting worse. I have absolutely no fear of dying. I believe the threat is real but I am not afraid.

The millenials were all about the moment and the experience prior to the pandemic. They were fatalist before it became hip. They were playing the game correctly. That is my big regret. I was way too serious about family and work at 25.

I’m an incorrigible nit. Kinda wish I took more risks nevertheless.

There is no real intelligence or science going either way. It is just a giant unknown. Which is why everyone is just taking the side they perceive to be most politically expedient and digging in.

There is no real science behind the wet market theory or any argument the virus somehow naturally jumped from animals to humans in Wuhan either.

Circumstantial evidence points towards it escaping from a lab being more likely. It is just too big a fucking coincidence that Wuhan of all places (where no native animals that carry similar viruses are anywhere to be found, but there is a bio lab that has transported such animals from far away to Wuhan for the explicit purpose of studying similar coronaviruses) is where the virus originated. Sorry, but it is. But even then, it is just circumstantial evidence at this point, nothing more.

Like any lifestyle choices there are pros and cons, we are always going to have regrets (if we are honest with ourselves). I made the opposite choices you did with my life, partied my ass off, spent every last dime travelling and living it up until 35. Like you, I regret my choices, I'm 10 years behind where I should be financially.

I'm raising a couple of kids now, while I'd like them to have some adventures in their lives I sure hope they make choices more similar to yours than mine. I wouldn't spend too much time regretting making practical choices at the sacrifice of immediate pleasures. You can always make up for lost time in your golden years as well, go travel and enjoy life.

The ones who right off the bat were preaching "JUST A NATURAL OCCURANCE GUYZ, IT HAPPENS" didn't.

Occams Razor points more towards the lab.

Believing in a scientists gut reaction is no different than believing a preachers gut reaction. Time will tell.

Show me the science. Show me the intelligence.

I read all those Nature articles. There is no science at all in them. They are just completely uneducated opinion pieces at best, and at worst they are deliberate misinformation.

fact: the loudest voices in the lab source / wet market theories are the least trustworthy.

i believe it was accidentally released from a lab but i also openly acknowledge that im basing that opinion on totally circumstantial evidence.

and any source repeat any source even vaguely associated with US gov / CN gov / WHO absolutely cannot be trusted at face value. its not that one must assume they are lying, its that one must assume they would lie.

its a huge difference but its very important.

none of us have the requisite facts to know for certain where it started.

i base my opinion (!!!) on the fact that this thing acts like every single biological weapon wish list ive ever read. its orders of magnitude beyond anything ive ever read about in its capacity to bring societies to a halt. and when i factor in the proximity of wuhan lab im like ok well, thats another interesting piece of data now isnt it. and when i factor in a wonky CDC report days after the wuhan lockdown claiming they traced it to bat meat in the market (using what test exactly?) thats not just smoke to me, im starting to see fire.

    but really.

    really.

    it seriously could be coincidental.

and it seriously could be a US biowarfare play that went totally fucking sideways because King Retard doesnt know how viruses work and fired everyone who does.

    nothing is off the table.

I don't give a shit what their name is. I can read and understand science, especially molecular biology related, and tell if it is bullshit or not. So show me the science. Don't show me any names.

again quick reminder biowarfare scientists and intelligence agencies have clearance and part of that responsibility is cranking out Total Bullshit if your boss requests it.

Did you read the article. Their "science" is that the virus is most similar to those found in bats thousands of miles away, but the binding region of the spike protein is most similar to something found in pangolins, which is thousands of miles away in a different direction.

And guess what, the way biology works the fact the virus is 96% similar to those found in bats in SW China actually heavily implies this virus originally came from bats in SW China. And guess what, there is no reasonable way for bat coronaviruses from SW China to end up in Wuhan, even through intermediate hosts, without them being deliberately transferred alive, such as for biological research.

How the fuck do any of these facts support transfer from a local zoonotic source via wet markets (that dont sell bats, and certainly dont sell bats from caves in SW China)?

Your science supports my theory, not yours.
