They hate CC bonus whores a lot more than people who don't even play the game. Actually the real move is to amass a ton of debt and then default.

I have been slammed lately by Citibank. It's the typical spend $3,000 in three months and get $500. Naturally I get a lot of offers given I have statistically a credit score in the top 1% of the world (hovering around 800).

I dunno, I might pull the trigger, but it is a pain of opening the card, and then canceling it month 11 before the $95 fee kicks in.

$500 to me is nothing, but it is good to stick it to the man, if you get my drift.

This isn't a bad card. It's 1.5% direct cash back, approval isn't all that tough, and you get that $150 bonus for only $500 in expenditures.

However, if you're looking for a good general card, this isn't the best one, even if you don't have a business TIN.

The Citibank Double Cash card gives you 2% back (1% immediately, 1% upon payment): https://www.citi.com/credit-cards/cr...sh-credit-card

    Thanks druff,

I just get the bonuses and keep them 6/8 months and close them. I’ve actually cashed in bonuses several times on the same cards 2 years apart. I don’t like to have credit cards to tempting to use them.

Just sighed up for the citi double cash FWIIW.

Does seem to be the least gimmicky card out there Nd you don’t have to worry about miles/points and the games they play with them.

    Red face

Sorry for the delay, I actually use my southwest card for air miles. I just used the 150$ To book airfare to Vegas. I’ll cancel this card in 6/8 months. I take advantage of all these offers, what’s the point of having an 800+ credit score if you don’t use it. I’ll do some math and see if that card is good for me Todd, I’ll get much more back then my SW card.

Sad, almost 2 years with no good bonuses. Discover bank giving 200 for 25k deposit. 200 is 200, I took it. Non Jew Jew and all.

This one isn't open to anyone, but if you see this offer, grab it:

The US Bank Altitude card gets you 4% back on gasoline and other travel-related charges, PLUS you get $500 cash BACK after spending just $3000 in 90 days.

However, the $500 thing is invite only, I think. I got invited. I think the regular deal is $200, which isn't quite as good.

Good deal at the moment. IHG Credit Card which is effectively Holiday Inn properties. For $99 annual you get 140,000 points and a free room annually. Now I get it, Holiday Inn is not a Marriott type chain, but they are fine for a night stopover. I was with the family recently and got a Staybridge Suites with this IHG chain with the family. Two queen beds and a sofa bed with a kitchen. It was next to a Longhorn where we ate. Room rate for a Saturday night was $179. Mine was free because I had the card points. Got there at 5pm, left at 7am the next morning. 32,000 points. $0 out of pocket.

IHG also owns Intercontinental Hotels, which is a great hotel, problem is it would eat up your 140,000 points for like two nights.

Do not underestimate this card. This is not a vacation hotel type of card (unless you are poor), but for a one nighter its pretty great.

Bilbodoggins: probably your most useful post ever. I agree, these properties are fine for a night here and there.

Just on the initial offer alone you are getting like 5 to 7 free nights, and another free night on anniversary night. All for $99 a year. If you use the credit card exclusively for all purchases, you are probably getting another free 5 days a year. Or don't use the card and pay the $99 a year for the fee, and cash in the free night at a $200 value a night Holiday Inn.

Called +EV people. +EV. Got it? I hope you do. I hope you do very much.

I know this is an old thread and question if this worked out for Druff?

Me- I use 3 credit cards to get by in life. One is a main card with cash back, the second is a back up card also with cash back. The third is a larger limit card with cash back to brokerage account, always a zero balance.

For credit, I feel that slow, steady and long term is the key vs fast, loose and flipping. If you invest your money right, you will see the more valuable short and long term pains vs the constant shallow shell game with credit card rotations.

    It worked out great.

However I got out of it when Chase started acting like hardasses and not letting you sign up for new cards if you had more than a certain number applied for (with anyone, not just them) in the past 24 months. So it felt hopeless and I gave up.

Now it's been years and I'm pretty much fresh, so I can start bonus whoring again. I might just do that very soon.
