I know 50 people who have had said the N word at some point in their lives. Most are card carrying liberals who I wouldn’t consider racist, and All are gainfully employeed. This weird game where we have to be fake outraged every time a white person is “caught” saying the N word and say they should be branded with the scarlet R (for racist) and lose their job and be a pariah is just sick and twisted.

This honestly must be an american thing. The only time I ever remember any of my friends or family saying it was when my uncle told my cousin he was going to play "n-word ball". My cousin was really embarrassed and called his dad out for it right away. And that was in the early 90s....

I can;t imagine any of my white friends saying it. Maybe when they were under 21.... I'm seriously surprised so many Americans feel this is normal behaviour. I guess it just goes to show how much worse blacks are treated in USA than Canada.

I admit most of what I learned in university was either forgotten or not useful in the first place. That being said I will always remember my first year politics course on western democracies. One of the first things our professor taught us was that to understand American culture you had to know the difference between multiculturalism and the melting pot. I'll also give the professor for explaining the two in a non bias manner (he was even able to explain why the electoral college can be seen as positive despite its initial obvious drawbacks). Anyways for unaware in Canada we adopted a multicultural view to immigrants meaning that different cultures were celebrated and society was heterogeneous. Whereas in the united states the melting pot view was that outside cultures needed to assimilate to the dominate one and therefore a more homogeneous society emerged. There are benefits and drawbacks to both approaches. I can not stress enough how much of a factor the melting pot mentality is in today's political climate.

I also cannot help but laugh at someone calling me self righteous or see it as bragging because I do not use the n word. That's an extremely fucked up world view.

Furthermore, the United States is a much more complex, diverse (in many diferent ways, not just pertaining to race) and powerful nation than Canada. Things are bound to be very different between the two. I’m just glad we don’t have some pansy as our President.

I know racial slurs exist in every part of the world, but I have to think the extreme over sensitivity of the black American is tragically unique across the globe. I’ve seen a few out of control social media discussions among people I know about the Native American team names controversy, and a couple of times black peoples tagged actual Natives, only to be dumbfounded when they didn’t seem to care. They actually pointed out that it’s wrong to assume that the red man cares about race in the same way. The PC shit is only going to get worse. I have younger sisters, and the kids just entering late teen and early 20s are probably the most embarrassingly soft, victimhood culture faggots yet. The black kids use their protected minority status like a weapon. The only hope for that problem is that pretty much every black kid I encounter now is mixed race.

there is nothing normal about seeing a black person in Canada (western Canada), there just arnt very many
and very unusual to interact with one. same goes for very north western Washington, almost none. it is very hard to walk a mile in a persons shoes from Detroit, New York almost anywhere in the USA. Our sample size is so small that black people are treated mostly equal or even higher regard with all the BLM shit going on. I remember some one here said they had to have a security guard escort his wife to the grocery store so not to be harass by black guys, I found this astonishing and made me think he lived in a slum or something but maybe just normal for sprawling large city in the US.
so it is very difficult to have a opinion about how black people are treated in the USA especially if they are acting different than other minorities and whites.

If i was visiting a city in the USA with a lot of black people I would be very cautious when interacting with them out in public.
I literally have interacted once in public for many years with a black person and very few sightings and its not because i am avoiding them they just are not where i am. If i did meet some one black I would be infinitely nice as could be so not to make them feel uncomfortable, this could possibly backfire i imagine.
