Swap you Mookie Betts heads up for Harper. You take it?

If Harper is 10/$325 that would make Betts 10/$500. Neither is happening.

Betts is that proverbial 10/$400 though. Lol, Sawks offering a Lester-like 5/$100 this year. Betts politely told them to get fucked and is challenging Trout.

Rizzo at the Nats must know today it’s all over. But what is Harper worth as a rental? So much for $325. He ain’t even a prize rental.

My Phillies might make a play for Harper but I would much rather see them save that money for Trout in 2019 . Trout is a Jersey boy who is always at Philly Eagles games . Fairly sure he would love to play in Philly since he won't ever sniff a championship in LA.

interesting tale on that one...so I used to work in the armpit of America (aka atlantic city)...driving home most nights I wouldn't run into traffic driving back into philly because most people are leaving the city and going to the burbs...but this one summer night traffic was ridiculous on the Whitman, something I had never seen before...and this was like a random Tuesday/Wednesday...couldn't figure out what the hell was up until I got home and realized that trout was in town playing the phillies...I would say most of southern jersey was in attendance that night...

I tell that little tale to say that if the phillies sign him I have a feeling they would make a shitton of money on him being on the team, especially since they are trending in the right direction after a decade of fail...

I lived in Philadelphia in 2008. Financially and personally it was the worst period of my life. The Phillies winning the World Series was an incredible moment. I vividly remember being downtown that night. It was the most electric atmosphere I have ever felt, I basically turned the corner with that event.

didn't see what it was like in '08 with the phillies, but the eagles winning the super bowl was fucking pandemonium in center city that night...

Phillies have a boatload of money to spend In the next two years. They are a right fielder and a Frontline pitcher away from being a serious contender. The young talent that has emerged Hoskins, Nola, Alfero, along with the hidden gems still on the farm . Herrara is playing lights out and even Franco has got his swing going. Bullpen is solid. They are actually ahead of predicted schedule . Phillies in 2020 are going to win the national league.

Now if the Flyers could somehow find a goalie. Philly sports is on the rise. Sixers are going to be contenders in the East. Eagles coming off SB win.

Get Trout in 2019 and it's all going to go crazy

My Twins are selling. Meh. I wouldve tried to kinda middle it here, but i'm sure those wunderkids know what they are doing. Good capital received for Escobar and especially Pressly. Hopefully Sano and Buxton can stop dicking around and start becoming baseball players.

Did you catch this during the All Star break?

Angels star Mike Trout “has made decisions on what he wants to do and doesn’t want to do, how he wants to spend his free time. I think we could help make his brand very big. But he has a decision to engage. It takes time and effort.
    -MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred
Trout is known for largely avoiding the media spotlight. LA is not a sports town. This seems to suit his personality and Trout might even feel the lack of attention helps his performance in some way.

New York, Philly and Boston are the epitome of rabid sports towns. Exactly the opposite of the apathetic Los Angeles fans.

There is a reason Ohtani picked LA. LA is like being in the safety of a witness protection program. Trout seems to like it.

I rather doubt you have a shot with Trout. He loves Philly but not as a potential work environment.

You might get a very close second in battle tested, playoff tested Mookie Betts.

Trout’s only playoff experience was 2014 and he was .083 for 12 appearances. He might be another Kershaw under the bright lights. We don’t know really but it has to be a concern.

I agree to disagree. Nothing says comfort like going home. Trout is on the opposite side of the country and probably doesn't particularly like the spotlight that is LA.

He certainly doesn't mind being shown on tv during every eagles game. Phillies will make a huge play for Trout and sell him on coming home and he will fit right in with the younger talent that gets media attention.

Oh Double Herrara Phillies CF probably will be benched tomorrow. Every so often this guy loses focus for entire games . Sadly tonight was that night. Blows through a sign and causes a double play and then misjudged a line drive that went over his head to tie the game 1-1 .

Nola held potent Sox lineup to 4 hits through 8 innings . Sad he had to lose because of OH Doubles bullshit.

Knew he was done for the Jays after the domestic abuse. He was already a head case at times will be interesting to see if he can pull it back together

If so horrible trade for the Jays.

Technically, earthworms have no brains and neither does Odubel Herrera. Painful Sawks win.

We can be frank now, who was privately praying the Dodgers would take Bryce Harper? It would have been good for the PFA Todger game.

There will be other spots. Oh here’s one....

    Description:
    Tablet - Baseball - MLB - 962 Milwaukee Brewers/Los Angeles Dodgers over 8 -130 for Game

At one point Buehler was floated in a package for Harper. The Dodger comedy is endless.

    Edit

    Food for fantasy

    Cody Bellinger CF
    Machado SS
    Harper RF
    Justin Turner 3B
    Matt Kemp LF
    Yasmani Grandal C
    Max Muncy 1B
    Chris Taylor 2B

    Archer to Pirates
    Gausman, O'Day to Braves
    Dozier, Axford to Dodgers
    Schoop to Brewers
    Wilson Ramos to Phillies

So pretty much a big exodus from the AL to NL.

Other than Happ to the Yankees, has there been any major trade where an AL team improves?

Dodgers went after Dozier in 2016, but decided they didn't want to part with the prospects the Twins wanted. Dozier is having a down year, hitting .221 with 16 HR. Still an upgrade at 2B, though.

    Typical lineup will feature:

    C Grandal
    1B Bellinger
    2B Dozier
    SS Machado
    3B Muncy
    LF Kemp
    CF Taylor
    RF Puig

Not sure what they will do when Turner comes back, unless someone gets hurt again. One of these starters will have to sit.

Cubs lineup is so sad that Albert Almora is hitting 5th. What does he have, like 2 home runs or something?

Better hope your pitching holds up, or you will be praying for the one-game wildcard playoff to go okay, as the Brewers take the division.
