I have an odd fascination with "sensible malapropisms". Emphasis on sensible. If you say things like "for all intensive purposes", that's just retarded. But sometimes they kind of make sense, and it's understandable how you might make the mistake. Even better is when they have almost the same literal meaning using different (but similar sounding) words.

For example, to idolize something undeserving is to place it on a pedestal, because that's what you put statues on. Putting something on a "pedal stool" (I've seen you make this one, Druff) is kind of silly, but that's still raising it on a higher platform. A mistake, but a perfectly sensible one.

When something is fixed firmly in place, such as a belief, it is deep seated. That's the original phrase, and its meaning is very specific. A lot of people say deep seeded, which kind of means the same thing in a metaphorical sense. It was many years before I realized I was getting this wrong, but in my defense, it's totally sensible.

Escape goat - If you fuck up and get into trouble, just blame the escape goat and ride it to safety!

Mute point - Kind of a reach, but somewhat sensible. If a point is no longer worth debating, I suppose you could say it's silent.

I've thought about writing these down when I see new ones, maybe putting them on a website, but I sort doubt anyone else would give a shit.

If Bynum can stay healthy and Evan Turner comes into his own with Jru Holiday, Thad Young, Nick Young, and Jason Richardson with Hawes at the 4 possibly, we are looking at growing into a top tier team. It really all depends on the back court with Holiday/Turner. If Turner can get the minutes he needs, and continue to become more and more productive then we have a real shot.


I don't think the Eagles will do shit this year. I predict Mike Vick to play no more than 10 games. You heard it here first. Most people are counting/hoping on 13 in the city. I don't see it happening. We've had two preseason games, and two x-rays. He's played a total of six plays. I don't like it. On the other hand Foles is blossoming in front of our eyes. A third round pick out of Arizona has been knockin em dead. He's 6'6 245 and has all the tools you need to be a successful QB. He also seems to have the intangibles that coaches look for.


The weather in Philly has been amazing this past week at night. It gets down to about 63 degrees and with the windows open it's quite a treat to sleep to.


I leave in 17 days. Stoked. Looked at a bunch of flights all over Asia because they're super cheap. Going to be a great life experience, and I really hope I don't die.


I have to find out about my visa.

I'm watching From Dusk Til Dawn. Great flick.

It's not just about Bynum staying healthy.

He also has to stay consistent.

He is so frustrating, because some games he looks like a superstar, and others he looks terrible and unfocused, and you never know which Bynum is going to show up.
