Kawhi Leonard will cost heavy. C’s have endless young talent but there must be promises made not a rental

that's where my conversation started with my buddy...if you have to give up brown or tatum to get kawhi which one do you give up?

that whole spurs/kawhi thing is really fucked up...just don't get it...the most drama free organization in sports is having an issue with the quietest NBA star in recent memory...

that being said if danny can do his danny thing and get kawhi in green next year I will be doing back flips...

In a Bill Simmons podcast he pointed out this is not the case at all, but the Spurs and their media did a very good job of keeping drama in house and suppressed. Simmons brought up a couple incidents indicating disfunction that would have been a very big deal if they had happened elsewhere. They include a weird cheating love triangle involving Brent Barry's wife and one of the other players (I don't even remember who) and Tim Duncan's very messy divorce from his cheating wife.

I don't know if teams should commit big to Kawhi at this point.

This past season was beyond weird.

What started out as a seemingly moderate injury ended up dragging through the year. Popovich got pissed off and thought Leonard wasn't thinking of the team, but instead was being overly cautious for his own future. When Leonard did play, he was ineffective.

I don't recall ever seeing a situation like this in the NBA.

I just kind of think this might have taken the edge away from Leonard. Like we're going to see a player who is either consistently hurting, injury prone, or overly cautious.

Sometimes all it takes is one bad injury experience to ruin a very promising athlete's career.

I'm not saying Kawhi is done, but I also wouldn't want to build a franchise around him at this point.

Assuming he doesn't have a serious health issue, I think he will be fine once he gets payed.

Seems this might be a response to how Isiah Thomas was handled, where he basically doesn't want to play at all coming into a monster contract before he gets said contract. Hard to blame him after what happened with Thomas.

I wouldn't put it past danny to do that kinda trade if he could get kawhi on the cheap so to speak (and he thought that kahwi was healthy)...

End of that game was real weird. When the score was tied and Thad Young stripped the ball from Lebron it looked like it actually hit the line before it hit his elbow and went out of bounds. I thought it weird they didn't review that or make a big deal on the telecast. They showed one replay in real time that was inconclusive and then just moved on real quick. Same thing with Lebron's block. They never really addressed whether it was a goal tend or not, they just moved on quickly.

Great shot at the end either way, but it was real weird how the refs pushed the game along without reviewing those crucial plays and the broadcast just moved along too.

Maybe Toronto is just destined to choke in the playoffs.

All I know is that, if I had gotten down that +1600 bet on them being Eastern Conf champs like I wanted in the early season, I'd be really frustrated tonight.

Yeah, they’re fucked now. That’s as bad a game as they’ll get out of Lebron. 1/6 from FT line. 1/8 from 3. No legs after that game 7. 30 shots and <30 points for only the 3rd time in his career. Losing a home playoff game LBJ and Love shoot 15/43 is unreal. While JR and Jeff Green will regress from their game 1 stats, they’re still fucked. When your two stars are a mid-range jump shooter and a 6ft PG who disappears in crunch time, you’re not getting to the finals. I actually think they’re 4th out of the remaining 4 Eastern Conference teams to make the finals. Just a regular season group of chokers who shrink come playoff time every year. I think they’ll be out in 5 games now.

This is the worst Cavs team since Lebron has returned, but it felt a lot like last year where the Cavs swept the Pacers, but only were +16 in the 4 games. They match up against the Cavs much better than the Raptors. If Boston can somehow beat the Sixers, the Cavs will likely make the finals again, but they’re going to get swept hard by the Warriors if they make it.

I wouldn't write off the Raptors just yet. I'm completely devastated they blew game 1 but it isn't over yet.

My problem is you don't give the last second shot to VanVleet. I love the guy but he just came back from injury. Lowry/Derozan have to drive to the basket get the foul call and go to the line down 1 point.

I think they will win game 2 by 10+ points with Lebron sitting on the bench in the 4th.

I think they were slight favorites before this series started, which seems ridiculous but shows how brutal the Cavs are.

Lebron is god but this Cavs team is so brutal to watch.

Would be an absolute joke (and amazing) if Cavs made the finals this year.

After watching how effective TT was with his clutch offensive rebounding in Game 1, I wonder again whether the current trend of teams getting back in transition and not even trying to get O rebounds is optimal.

Obviously if you don't have any good offensive rebounders on your team it probably is optimal to not even try, but if you have a big guy or two that is good at it it might be a strategy that teams should utilize more.
