obv Ngannou cardio we don't need to discuss but you would think Stipe being a firefighter would have better endurance then this. Close it out already man.

God damn Ngannou is a sloppy bar room fighter with amazing physical attributes. Glad to see Stipe win that. Cmoney, hope you made some good coin on that fight.

That was a struggle to stay awake which is why we need to just make the heavyweight division one five minute round and be done with it. I'm dead serious here let them go balls to the wall for five minutes cause it will be more entertaining then wasting 15 to 20 more minutes of our time.
I didn't see that but it's awesome. The UFC has done a piss poor job of marketing Miocic. I enjoy him, he's got some character and he's the blue collar fire fighter all American type. They tossed a ton of marketing dollars away on Ngannou.
He was gassed after 3/4's of the first round.
Overly confident and threw some bombs that didn't miss by much, punching air is so damn tiring, he was done after the first.
He wanted out and gave him his back many times, Stipe had at least five good opportunities to choke him.
Disappointing fight. *shrugs*
lets not overlook that francis came very close to winning in the first round and even a drunken slap that caught stipe in the third had him reeling backwards.
i mean francis is trash but he's still super insanely dangerous trash.

I didn't think Stipe was really in any positions to choke. He had a key lock a few times with his legs to prevent the standup. He was just controlling the position and grinding Ngannou down. Had he gone for a choke he'd lose the position or allow Ngannou to get to the only position he was dangerous, his feet. You need to either get hooks in or flatten a guy out to attempt a a rear choke, Ngannou was always one knee down with the other foot down hoping to explode up. Stipe did the right thing, it just looked boring.
Title fights in the UFC often suck. Staying champ gives guys a % of the ppv so they fight safe because the money is so much better. Look at guys like GSP and Woodley. Dangerous, proven finishers who won't take any risks once they became champ. The UFC needs to figure something out to address the problem.
Every PPV I look forward to ends up being disappointing.
UFC 221 will be off the rails excitement since I look at the card and am glad that I won't be around that evening.
Yeah, he's a ridiculous athlete. He hurt Stipe in the first and that probably contributed to the safe tactics he used afterwards. It was boring but Stipe did the right thing. He handled a massive and dangerous puncher who has walked through everyone else.
The best weight classes are 135-155. Just a ton of depth and amazing athletes. 205 and HWis fun because of the power but fuck is it ever sloppy.
Bellator had a nice card tonight as well. Rory MacDonald had a fucking war with Douglas Lima and won the 170lb strap. His leg, teeth, nose and cheek were destroyed but he worked through it to win the 5th round.
Sonnen won an easy decision over Rampage. Rampage looked fucking awful. Also this kid is one to watch, Aaron Pico. Young guy and one of the worlds best wrestlers with great boxing. Check out the body shot he landed to win tonight. I think this kid will be UFC champ within 3 years.
