I can understand a degen going to Vegas to gamble and going broke. Thats totally normal for a degen. BUT LOL @ a dinner putting strain on someone for months on this scale.

Secondly, if you are trying to get your "break" playing 1-2 and 10-20 LHE then you are just out of your gord. There are guys crushing 100k high rollers who can't even get sponsored right now.

Lastly you probably could make a living playing 1-2 NL and 10-20 Limit but you would prob have to be the best one or 2 players at the table every time you play and be an expert at those games. And most people who are that good to earn livings at those games are playing higher stakes

He made a mistake. I'm sure he will remember that for quite some time, and holefully learn from it. But the bigger issue is whether he will develop a realistic expectation of the opportunity to make a living playing poker given the maturity of the game play at the stakes he can afford.
