it actually makes sense, it's because they realize their guy could potentially lose because of this controversy. It has nothing to do with them "liking" that he did this, they aren't going to be converted to Democrats because of this... just as you wouldn't have voted for Trump if it came out that Hillary Clinton was fucking high school girls.

and at the risk of weakening my position with a controversial statement... it really wasn't unusual in that place and time for a bachelor to date high school girls. The guy asked the parents if he could court their daughters ffs. That stereotype about the southern Christians that you hate so much... the one about them being old fashioned and conservative... don't be surprised when it turns out to be true and the old fashioned conservatives down there don't really give a shit about an old man doing old fashioned things in the good old days

How is this hypocritical? Elderly evangelical Christians from the South may have different notions about what was considered "moral" behavior in the 1970s (and today too for that matter) than you or me, but they are pretty consistent.

I am sure most of those people would be much more upset if they found out Moore had jungle fever when he was in his 30s, than that he courted white teenagers.

As I have said before, I don't think any of the moral outrage going on right now is coming from a very sincere place. I thought the exact same thing when the Limbaugh crowd was going after Bill Clinton relentlessly during his presidency and right after for his affairs.
