If anyone needs convincing that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, they just need to watch that video. The guy has beer in hand, people dying around him, people on the ground around him trying to take cover, and he is trying to antagonize a guy that is shooting at him with what is essentially an automatic weapon .
Nothing to do with alky or weed, the snap chat, twitter, video, fb, texting during that crisis in the line of fire is a prime example of the intelligence of said group. It was not all attendees but a lot!

I do not believe I am being harsh, though it may sound harsh ask yourself, would older, well educated, wealthy types (assuming one would attend such a concert), do ANY of that stupidity while their head is a live target? Imagine such a terror attack happened at an opera in Geneva, think we'd see that moronic behavior?

ISIS bullshit works just like Trump bullshit. They can make ridiculous accusations because they know two things-

    1) Their brainwashed minions will immediately believe it.

    2) If every mainstream news outlet runs a story completely debunking the accusation (as has happened many times for both) their brainwashed minions will dismiss it as "Jew lies", if they ever even see it in the first place. That's why vilifying the press is such an important part of their brainwashing.

We're not the real target audience of ISIS propaganda, its members and potential members are. They need to brag about fake successes to counter the fact that they've been losing territory for most of 2 years. Just this week, the Iraqi Army took back the last significant Iraqi town controlled by ISIS.

If you're serious about your ISIS suspicious, I'm pretty disappointed in you. He was a devout wahabist Muslim who spent most of his final days gambling? And he owned no Korans or any religious objects of any kind? And he didn't mention his conversion to hardcore Islam to anyone?
in fairness, i've followed almost none of this story except that he had a ton of guns and apparently was not specifically targeting this group, but was scouting out other concerts as well.

does ISIS have a tendency to lie about these things? i'm genuinely asking as i have no idea and am too lazy to google

While I was writing my last post, I remembered this receipt. No devout Muslim would order a non-Halal cheeseburger from Mandalay.

But then I noticed the date at the top left was 9/27, and I believe he checked in on 9/28.

EDIT- The source page of those pictures addresses the date thing.

another thing to note that it was Callimachi who other newspapers like the USA Today ran to, in order to debunk the ISIS claim, which she did initially, but has since backtracked

That, of course, makes sense for an organization wanting to maintain a degree of credibility. And if that self-proclaimed expert is right about ISIS 'rarely' claiming credit for attacks that had nothing to do with them. Then yeah, game on I guess.

Still have huge doubts myself as many so-called experts still insist that ISIS are full of shit A LOT of the time.

Add to the fact it would be their biggest ever overseas coup, I would assume they'd have released at least something to back their claim up.

Also, just look at the guy. I know he had a Filipino partner. But fuck me, an old American white man not only converting to Islam but taking up Jihad as well?

Seriously can't buy into that at all just yet (maybe its denial). But I'm no longer at zero point zero chance after what we've just read.

Ignoring her acknowledged complete lack of evidence- On three previous occasions, ISIS has taken credit for things they had absolutely nothing to do with. Why is it so hard to believe that they did it a fourth time?

i could explain further, but i would just be plagiarizing her. are you "disappointed" with the NYTimes journalist covering ISIS for not rejecting the idea that he was radicalized?

the ISIS reporter for the fucking New York Times.

did i mention she covers ISIS for the NYTimes?

there just arent a lot of entry points there for radicalism. im not going to be like [ EXPLOSION SOUND ] MIND BLOWN if he decided one day out of the blue that jihad was the answer but its Really Fucking Dumb to connect those dots at this point.

Because their attacks likely run into the hundreds, and lying about just 3 (if that stat is true) would make their 'lie rate' incredibly low.

but that's not what she's doing. she's saying she can't just reject the notion that he was radicalized. she also makes a decent argument for the premise that ISIS's claim of responsibility is a fact that makes it more likely and not less likely (or neutral), that he was radicalized.

For the sake of this discussion, I'll assume we are all on the same page that there isn't a discernible difference between ISIS and Mossad.

    Gotta agree with Barry here.

No evidence he had ties to ISIS, and it's incredibly difficult to believe that he was radicalized, given both his background and recent actions.

I don't give a shit who she writes for. I'm evaluating her argument, and it sucks.

    Evidence against-
Devout Muslims don't gamble, and he definitely gambled last week.
No one noticed what would have been a massive and obvious lifestyle change.

    Evidence for-
ISIS, who has lied 3 times before, said so.

I'd say the preponderance of evidence is massively on the against side. Is it impossible? Like Sonatine just said, of course not. But until another chunk of evidence lands of the For side, it's just not worth seriously discussing.

i suggest that the fact that she works for the NYTimes makes her more credible as it's not coming from a right-wing conspiracy site. if this was a reporter from breitbart or infowars, you would surely be pointing that out.

also you're diminishing the arguments she set forth.

she said that ISIS lied three times out of 50. i.e., 47 of 50 times, they did not lie. even when they do lie, they have not lied on the scale of something like this.

they don't simply take responsibility for every act of terror, even ones they are 100% involved in.

as of yet, the police have come out with no motive. the LV sheriff oddly asked the question of whether he was radicalized at a press conference.

i'm not telling you that there is proof that he was radicalized or even that it's more likely than not that he was. i don't think we can discount it though, and it is at least as plausible as a million of the other theories we are debating here.

also lol at it's so ridiculous that it's not worth discussing. we have 39 pages of idiotic theories already
