You are correct about my tendency to "latch." However please consider... While it is possible, it is extremely rare that someone is a truly "bad person." To say someone is a bad person is to define their entire character based on only a small facet of who they are - the piece you happened to witness. It's blanket-proclaiming that they have no potential for good, and in doing so, eliminating any chance they have (at least with you and those you preach it to), to make good.

Short of certain types of severe mental illness, most people have good in them and are just struggling with personal issues. As you say, part of them may be broken in some way. I tend to see the good in people because it's there, and because doing so brings about better results. In my experience, if you let someone know you see the good and that you believe in them, that turns out to be just what was needed for them to rise to your expectations. In doing so, you are giving someone a chance to turn themselves around, heal, maybe get over something horrific that happened to them. That's kind of a good feeling. It doesn't always work, but to me it's a hell of a lot better than bandwagon-ing with others and brandishing hate - what good does that ever do?
I challenge you to take on micon as the perfect subject to test your skills. .... that is, if you're ok getting paid in trucker hats or bitcoins.
